The right hand side 12:39 - Oct 1 with 703 views | _clive_baker_ | Is there an argument for Szmodics to play out there in the short term? I don't think its his ideal position tbh, but it might be a way to bring us a bit more threat out there? I think he's one that would bring the defensive discipline to the role that's so necessary too, McAteer does it well but struggles going the other way. We've spent £30m on 2 players there and I don't see either offering that consistently in the short term. Egeli is obviously raw and the step up to Champ football is super tough. He's got the physical profile and clearly has talent so he's an incredibly exciting prospect, but perhaps not one we should be expecting too much from in the near term? I hope he's afforded the time by fans and people can see past the price tag because he's still very young. McAteer works hard, no doubt about that, but I don't think he possesses a huge amount of ability on the ball to create. Burns to return soon obviously, but will take a while to get up to speed. I don't think we're short of options, but we've offered next to nothing offensively from that side thus far.

The right hand side on 13:48 - Oct 1 with 542 views | SomethingBlue | Wonder if some of the issue is that Furlong, for all his obvious defensive strengths, isn't going to help out a lot going forward and you really need those combinations with – or at least overlapping runs from – full-backs when you're trying to break teams down. McAteer has had to plough a bit of a lone furrow in fairness to him. Although it won't happen I wonder if he'd combine well with Johnson.

Jaden, is now showing the form we all knew he was capable of. His best position is coming in from the left, it's clear. Let's not start changing that. Him coming inside off the left leaves the space that Davis needs to play in as well. Leave that alone. The right - Egeli - once he settles, you can see that he's the natural person for that position. We can then rotate Clarke and McAteer in these positions (as well as Burns). The wide positions are not really our issue. The challenge we have at the moment resides in the middle. We have SS and CA as options here. We may well rue letting Chappers go (IMO) - he's far, far more effective in that role (at this level) that Sammie. CA showed last night that when he gets used to it - he'll be fine there but he needs a lot more game time.

Marauding right back? Harry Clarke is your guy but that comes with other issues. It's always about balance. That RB position needs to be more defensive as the shuffle across to cover Davis means it's a hybrid RB/CB role. Very new players down the right as well (Egeli, McAteer and Furlong) - no partnerships developed yet but not surprising. Egeli is going to be the natural wide right player for us, you can see it already - as long as Furlong is close enough - it should work fine.

Well, yes why not. He can and has, played most positions i understand. I even suggested him in as a defensive midfielder to bolster it when Morsy left, but as usual got laughed off the board, lol. He could definitely do it.

Don't disagree tbh, certainly at home. He will need time and will frustrate at times because he's so raw, but physically he's a unit, and he'll only develop by playing. There's probably a time and place for McAteer, away from home at the likes of Boro no doubt, Cov, Leicester, Soton. A bit more pragmatic.

Noticed a few times last might he got in some great positions but didn't try to get through. When you look back at some of his videos he's direct and very almost delap like with his running but he's obviously not got that confidence yet. Which I think only games will bring.

I don't want to be nasty but whatever the question is, Kasey McAteer isn't the answer. We have an absolute abundance of attacking talent and he can't be taking up a place in the starting 11 regularly. A really basic footballer who to my eye offers little apart from working hard. For me, it can't be Clarke or Philogene. We need to find a way to get them both starting and purring. They are match winners who can carry the ball, commit defenders and make things happen in the final third.
The right hand side on 17:09 - Oct 1 with 144 views | Ace_High1 | Good shout, also with his eye for goal he is likely to come in at the far post more..... the amount of times LD or JP put a cross in from the right and the only player we have anywhere near the penalty spot/6 years box is Hurst, so having SS on the right he can fill in as a second striker? I also quite like the idea some games of Clarke as the number 10.

What if the question is who currently wears the number 20 for Ipswich Town on their shirt?
