| Jon Nolan 19:17 - Oct 16 with 4744 views | townblue | After reading the story about toto I looked up Nolan to see how he got on after joining as part of the same deal. According to Wikipedia, it looks like he's only played 14 games after leaving us. Crazy. | | | | |

I would argue, based on cost vs performances, he is up there as one of our worsr ever signings. Was absolutely hopeless.

Nolan? I was always a little bit nervous about that signing at the time but I imagine got sucked in by the hype. If you looked at his career he was a bit of a journeyman who had one good season. Having said that Nolan was better than a lot of the chaff we signed that season and pitches in with some goals. He scored 10 goals for us so not even in the conversation for worst signings. Similar money to Paul Taylor for example who was an abysmal signing. And we have had so many worse. Harrison we signed same window as Nolan was useless and cost nearly a million quid!

I remember watching the Shrewsbury play off final before Hirst was confirmed and being majorly unimpressed with them, Nolan in particular. Flattered to deceive is the least scathing comment I can thinkof. His signing typified that season’s debacle.

Maybe a tad unfair but can see that view. I have such a strong memory of him getting put through one on one with the keeper in a game at Portman Road and fluffing it completely. Can't remember the game. He was injured a lot too wasn't he. Having said that, he scored in one of my favourite Town away performances which might sound strange given the season. 1-1 draw Away at West Brom 2019. We knew we were down but great away support that day and real defiance. Darren Moore sacked as a result as we dented their promotion hopes. [Post edited 16 Oct 19:41]

He scored 10 goals? I'm honestly a bit shocked to hear that. And I think i choose to forget Paul Taylor even happened!

Remember Paul Taylor at a train station with a subway after being sent home from away trip? Also vaguely the dentist thing. Bloody hell. Millions of quid for all that. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How much did Sam Parkin cost? Before you get to the likes of JET or Tom Adeyemi.

JET was great in that demolition of West Ham though. And Mick even got him running back blocking shots for a period!

You could see he had a nice touch, but a prof footballer can’t get by on that alone otherwise Muhren would still be playing lol

Did he have an impressive one? I recall Tamas Priskin did and the combination of those two signings left us with the remarkable feat of having signed a player with the anagram "It's Sam Parkin!" [Post edited 16 Oct 20:34]

It was superb. Made him look like a cross between Shearer and Marcus Stewart. And then we found out he couldn’t score away (or home, I can’t remember which as I’m trying to purge those years from my brain).

I recall that he couldn't head the ball at all and we played everything long to him. Priskin similarly seemed to be very good working the channels and running with the ball and we then used him as a target man instead.

6'5" Tete Yengi is currently playing in the Scottish Premiership for Livingston, nine goals in forty eight games so not too shabby. His older brother, Kusini, plays for Aberdeen and came on as a sub in our pre-season friendly at Pittodrie (also an Australian international with six goals in eleven appearances.) Haha, Taylor sticks out to me as unforgettable because he had the triple threat of being rubbish, an awful human being and generally an odd looking fella.

Yes I think it's a bid sad with Nolan because whatever you can say about it not working he seemed like a grafter to me (not sure if I'm right in that but he was a trier on the pitch). Recall in preseason didn't he run a 16 minute and something 5k which is seriously impressive.
