| Goalkeeping situation 12:15 - Oct 22 with 1373 views | ringwoodblue | Hopefully Palmer’s injury isn’t that bad but if it is likely to keep him out for many weeks or months, I’m concerned that Walton is not a good enough replacement. I think Palmer would’ve saved the shot that led to the first goal last night and possibly one of the other two. With Muric and Slicker on loan (not sure what their recall options are), we look vulnerable in the goalkeeping department right now. Is Button a better option than Walton do we think? | |

I don't mean the team overall because obviously that was poor and questions need to be asked (although I support McKenna). With Walton, he came off the bench cold and started well. Questions have to be asked of the defence. We need to stop trying to fix everything that isn't perfect immediately like Walton and look at the longer term issues such as why we're so open and why we aren't creating clear cut chances.

| Goalkeeping situation on 12:42 - Oct 22 with 1211 views | urbanblue | I tend to agree with the concern if we have to move forward with Walton in goal. He doesn't fill me with confidence and I feel he's average at best. I just feel that Palmer maybe would have saved one or two of those goals although, of course, we can never know. The other factor is that the defence are influenced by who's in nets. They get to know each other. Movement. Where the keeper will be, what he will do etc. A confidence thing. Palmer also seems to be a talker whereas Walton appears more subdued. I don't know, but worry if we have lost Palmer for a substantial period. | | | |

| Goalkeeping situation on 13:01 - Oct 22 with 1110 views | TownieRob | Just to highlight something I read when we signed Button, I can’t remember if it was from a Reading or WBA fan on 'X', but they said he was one of the worst goalkeepers they’d ever had the misfortune of seeing play for their club. A few others echoed the same sentiment too. | | | |

| Goalkeeping situation on 13:16 - Oct 22 with 1000 views | BlueSince93 | Coming off the bench is one of the hardest things to do as a keeper. Walton's week will have been built around supporting Palmer to start. A couple of games and he'll be back to his sharpest, a more than competent Champ GK | | | |
| Goalkeeping situation on 13:23 - Oct 22 with 948 views | bsw72 | Although coming off the bench Walton made an excellent save in the first half when exposed one on one, else we would have been 0-1 down at half time. I am one of Walton's biggest critics - but the outfield defence is 90% to blame for last night's goals. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Bit strange then that my two most vivid memories of him last night are his coming out to block a shot in the area & save a certain goal; and acting as a sweeper keeper, almost in the centre circle - my heart was in my mouth at that one! Or was that Palmer before getting injured? 🤔
