Get on with the job, smash out a massive run of wins and put us on the front foot. Get us promoted and he can have a pretty picture. Some of you are acting like you believe the stripper really likes you.

This is the sort of guff I'm talking about. He's currently underperforming in the second tier with a hugely expensive squad. Let's see us get back to being one of the best in the division before all trying to elbow each other out of the way to sniff the steam off his piss eh? He's allowed to be fallible and make mistakes without the sycophancy and nonsensical hyperbole. Some of you sound like tennis ball throwers up the road with the culty stuff.

One can completely support him and want to give it time, acknowledging there's still a lorra credit in the bank, whilst not feeling the need to say how sorry we are for the minority of clueless wet wipes in the lower north having a frankly embarrassing little hissy fit.

Alternatively, he's navigating the club through a tricky period after big upheaval and change, keeping players like Jack Clarke happy coming on from the bench, communicating well with supporters about where we are and building a new side that shows a lot of promise. This is after taking a league one squad to the PL and giving us some great moments. It's totally facile imo to think that after 11 games if we aren't top 2 in what is always a tough league then somehow it's somehow a disaster. [Post edited 30 Oct 2025 17:46]

Except no one, nor I used the word disaster or anything close to it. This is the problem with fans always being binary and having to always appear loyal and on message. You literally have no interest in the truth or what’s said for fear of not getting approval.

To be fair, I think it's a two-way street. A little in-game adulation cannot but help to encourage the manager (and the players) in delivering. Who doesn't like a little praise in their working life? If nothing else, as a reminder of how they've succeeded before - and thus can do so again. Doubly so if they are struggling. No need to go OTT, but a bit of a boost wouldn't hurt.

He gets nothing but love in game, imagine an equivalent of the Charlton game of this season in general if he went to Celtic! They’d have the shiniest rosaries in Christendom!

Well if it's not a distaster then what's all the angst for then? Of course we'd rather be higher in the table. That's true for all clubs other than the leaders. Pretty normal in football. It's been a mixed start for obvious reasons. Don't think it merits questioning the manager.

Yes, that would be rather messy. Indeed plenty was said about McKenna during his time at ManU, when things weren't working there under Solskjaer and a section of the fanbase blamed the Assistants. I'd imagine his skin is quite thick (or, rather, his mind focussed elsewhere). Pretty sure McKenna's actual primary concern is to foster the best possible atmosphere during games, to push the players on. Every advantage and margin we can possibly get, &c.

Damn straight - the stripper analogy is fully apt. Any other club in the world, his win ratio this last 15 months sees him sacked, and quite some time ago. Bloke is one of the highest paid managers in Europe, and, frankly, is underperforming right now, dramatically. I want him to succeed - but he needs to start succeeding - our record has been atrocious this year, absolutely atrocious.

That’s true, but also what’s being talked about here is supporting the manager during a game. It’s not a big ask or unusual suggestion. Football is supposed to be tribal. During match day it’s supposed to be sycophantic (to use Muller’s own words). I don’t see the problem with unreservedly supporting the manager and team during games. It’s possible to do that and then still grumble about our form in the pub/on here, etc.

i completely agree. everyone's entitled to a moan, but during a game we should back the team and manager. mckenna has been the best manager we've had for twenty years and deserves our backing during a tricky patch. yes, things could be better. but being negative during a match might make it worse.
