I hope so. It’s crackers that we’re burying our heads in the sand over the impacts of climate change. There’s a 70% chance we’re going to hit 1.5° increasing warming within the next 3-5 years. As recently as 2018 the production was it would take until 2040. That’s more energy in the global system quicker than expected leading to more severe weather events and other adverse effects across every part of the globe. The costs are going to be phenomenal. (Usual caveats apply, we can’t do it all ourselves and we’re small fry compared to the big polluters, so we need to be working internationally and as part of that leading by example is important, imo). |  |

Got no problem if people want to protest about fossil fuels, although not that convinced everyone is that well versed on environmental issues with the increases of green tech in some aspects (Lithium demands and mining being a good example).

I don't think that really shakes out the way you think it does, unless the Oil Companies are doing that in response to the protests or something? This was a thread about Just Oil Protests methods, not the environmental damage caused by Fossil Fuels.

They have climate/environment protests, which must take balls of steel in China. And in India, where it’s becoming increasingly difficult with more severe penalties (as it is in the UK). Anyone who’s prepared to put their freedom and wellbeing on the line to try and improve things for future generations deserves massive respect imo. | |
