Never looked like getting the second? We missed four brilliant chances all from less than 8 yards with little pressure on any of the three players ... They have to go in and if they do, we are all talking about what a brilliant and clinical performance that is. They don't and now fans are talking as if they never happened.

That sounds very subjective. I saw enough last night that made me think we could win it. Good opportunities spurned, at the death blocks by them, breaks that really exposed them, etc Just one moment of being clinical, and that game was ours to take. I've seen games we've not turned up for, and last night wasn't one of those. How do you objectively support your 'feeling' that we were never going to win?

As I said last night, through the game itself i commented, I didn't get that feeling when we crossed the halfway line that a goal was coming. I don;t have anything for you to support my own feeling, I just didn't. Something just seemed really MEH last night, i'd hoped of course and after the subs came on that potential of a goal increased but I just didn't feel it was coming. Crosses were hitting first man, philogene was blocked so he just fell over instead, ref just laughed and played on every time, hirst wasn't being given the ball, akpom just pushed his way through 3 players and then lost the ball time and time again, furlong kept floating the ball over the bar when aiming for hirst to replay the goal from last game.. etc Nothing made me think oooo a goal is coming. The end result isn't the same, but we dominate most teams but more often than not, we can't seem to get over the win for a win, and don't have "loads" of chances. I know people dismissed him, and i'm saying this on the back of him getting a Hattrick, but Kieffer Moore would have had at least 3 or 4 goals for us now, just based on his ability to head a ball into a goal! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think thats an incredibly harsh take. Taylor, Nunez and Avon all missing key chances suggests we defnitely should have won the game.

I 100% agree, we should have won the game, they had a terrible away record going into the game, I just didn't feel during the game that we were going to. We could have had 100 shots in that final 10 minutes, i still would have felt the same.

For me this graphic illustrates the problem last night. We need to be burying the majority of the big chances.

We are having loads of chances, they're just not memorable because they have been completely botched. We are missing 'big chances' at a truly historic rate. Sheffield United missed just 50 'big chances' ALL SEASON last year. We are already at 30 after 13 games. We are not dropping points because of KM, his system etc. We are dropping points entirely because individuals are not finishing chances they should be. [Post edited 5 Nov 2025 13:55]

Your last sentence hits the nail on the head. We have a system that often dominates teams, and creates chances. We're just misfiring in front of goal too often (and when we are misfiring in attack, conceding just one soft goal hurts us). What happens in front of goal is what we need to fix, and quickly - and that may just come with a few of the culprits getting a goal, and some confidence. These stats also tend to undermine the claims from some that our midfield often isn't working. If it wasn't, we wouldn't dominate and create the chances we do.

Again though perhaps not swapping and changing the side would lead to better composure?

Poor goal conceded and missed chances. I was encouraged with the constant press and late pressure though.
