| It's going to be a season of tedious 'fans' on 11:07 - Nov 6 by The_Flashing_Smile | I've not checked the amount of signings for every club - I have seen how many have lost (and the amount) of key players. What bit of that are you still struggling with? I'm done. You've been a troll since 2010, never offering anything constructive just taunting people with context free 'facts' and thinking you're clever. Spoiler alert, you're not. |
I’m not trolling, I just think the idea that our slow start is down to needing to integrate new players when pretty much everyone else is in the same boat I’m not sure why citing data and examples is such a problem but there you go

As I've explained, and evidenced by listing the positions, everyone is not in the same boat. You've offered no evidence or data for your assertion, and I suspect it's you who's going on 'feels' rather than actually knowing. So I asked ChatGPT, "Which teams in the English Championship bought the most players this summer?" No other promoting from me, here's its response; "Ipswich Town reportedly made 19 new arrivals this summer. EFL Analysis Derby County were noted for one of the busiest windows, with 12 new arrivals mentioned in one report. Sports Mole Wrexham AFC had 9 senior signings confirmed at the time of one reporting, with more expected. The Wrexham Insider So, based on available public reporting, Ipswich Town appear to have bought the most players this summer in the Championship."

We quite obviously haven’t made anywhere close to 19 signings though, which is why I took a look at what other teams have actually done rather than using ChatGPT…! Never change [Post edited 6 Nov 14:28]

I guess it's including youth signings. In the first team we've brought in 11; Azor Matusiwa Kasey McAteer Marcelino Núñez Darnell Furlong Ashley Young David Button Jens Cajuste Chuba Akpom Cédric Kipré Ivan Azón Sindre Walle Egeli and seen 13 go; Omari Hutchinson Liam Delap Nathan Broadhead Luke Woolfenden Sam Morsy Axel Tuanzebe Cameron Burgess Marcus Harness Massimo Luongo Cieran Slicker Arijanet Muric Conor Chaplin Chiedozie Ogbene As far as I can tell that's more than every other club in the division, but feel free to list your sources/those teams ins and outs.

Maybe rather than guessing go and have a proper look rather than just blinding maintaining that no one else has signed as many players Your list of 11 still includes a player who was here last year, plus someone that is essentially a coach btw 👍

I've provided evidence and links, and I haven't "guessed" that's the narrative you've been pushing (probably because it's closer to your own truth). I'm not the one claiming all the other teams have had the same disruption. That's your claim so it's up to you to provide the evidence, assuming you're not "guessing".

| It's going to be a season of tedious 'fans' on 15:54 - Nov 6 with 416 views | TractorClarke | I for one think the recent critics are not wrong, as fans we are allowed to have an opinion on what we are watching, and i have to say this team does not allow me to be confident in them, they are so up and down. My support is always there, i want us to do well, i can even take a loss if we have put a performance in, but some of our most recent games at home have been really quite bad. Against Watford we looked tired in the second half, we are also seemingly devoid of any ideas when our one tactic does not work. In the second half it was absolutely criminal at times when we insisted playing down the left and Egeli was in acres of space waiting for the ball to come across. Not forgetting the unforgivable misses by Azon, Taylor and Nunez. Why is it we get teams like Watford that have two shots all game and score one of them, and we have easily double figures and only score one or in some cases none. When are we going to see anything resembling a quick counter attack rather than side ways passing until the other team have regrouped before we decide to do a half arsed attack. The few times i have seen a counter this season we look at our most dangerous so i dont know why we dont do it more. The list is endless to be honest i can type out all day on the issues we seem to be going through at the minute, not least how we seem to be worse and game management and energy when comparing to the promotion team. We should not live in the past and i would say overall we do, i believe, have a better squad of players that are still gelling but for two seasons we have changed our team and got the same result with chemistry. Add to the fact we dont play a stable team each week and make changes all the time, its been said many times but if these players cant play two games in one week then we have bigger issues. All i want is to feel like the team are giving everything they can for the badge, stop being wasteful in the final third, stop switching off at the back and making silly mistakes and to counter attack more and stop playing down one side all of the time. Living in the real world i know it wont be like this all of the time but we are a third of the way through the season and frankly some of these issues should have been ironed out by now. | | | |

There really isn’t much point in saying we shouldn’t live in the past then doing just that by using the promotion team to beat this one up with. Secondly, whilst I’m only blessed with a humble maths o’level, we are 28.26% of the way through the season. 13 games. How about waiting a couple of matches before boosting your arguments with ‘a third of the way through the season’? It reminds me of Darkhorse’s £200m and rising transfer spend nonsense. Regarding looking tired, surely that’s a reason to rotate the squad not ‘play a stable team every week’? Personally I’d prefer a more settled team, especially defence and midfield. And that includes Nunez as I’m not Cajuste’s biggest fan. Moan all you like about Tuesday. However poor you think we were (we weren’t that bad) we should have won the game. There were enough chances to win that. But nobody misses deliberately. Nor do the players not care. The spat KM talks about is evidence enough of that. If I see people not giving 100% I’ll be piling in. I never tolerated it in the workplace never mind in a team I pay money to watch. If you saw Jewell’s frauds or Lamberts down tools brigade, or even Hutchinson’s efforts in the summer, that’s what unacceptable looks like to me. If you have given up on the team and of course the management after 13 games, some of which were before the transfer window, that’s up to you. You won’t be alone. The bedsheet bawlers are out this week and loving every minute with their FM25 expertise on everything from tactics to transfer values. As for opinions? Everyone has one. No problem. Freedom of speech, forum, say what you like. It just grinds my gears that certain posters appear only after what’s deemed a disappointing result, offer only criticism but as somebody else said, never offer any constructive suggestions. We all know the team needs to be better with the quality we have. I thought we’d be a lot stronger than we are this season. It is what it is at the moment but I believe we will get a lot stronger going forward, if we can sort that 10 position which doesn’t look right. The doombrigade classic was of course Saturday when three posters piled in on the team after 45 mins then went silent for three days after the result. That was frankly embarrassing. They’re back now, strangely. Just an opinion.

"stop playing down one side all of the time." Two of our goals on Saturday came down the right. "we are a third of the way through the season" We are actually closer to a quarter of the season played than a third.

You haven’t provided evidence, you provided a ChatGPT response that was quite obviously wrong and then listed our signings which included someone who was already here We signed 9 new first team players (including Button is just padding the numbers as there’s clearly no intention for him to ever actually play). By comparison Stoke signed 10, Boro 11, Preston 13, Millwall 11 and Charlton 11. All info readily available from club websites, Transfermarkt, Wikipedia, or whichever source you want to use EDIT - checking closer I’d earlier erroneously included 2 players in those totals who actually spent time on loan at the same club last year, plus Joel Coleman(!) who hasn’t made an appearance and presumably similar to Button in that he’s never expected to play so only fair to exclude. Stoke, Boro and Millwall have all signed 9 first team players - still in line with us Same applies when looking at appearances - we’ve had 76 apps made by new signings whereas Stoke have over 100, for example I don’t really know where else to go from here, it’s fairly apparent that the level of churn we’ve had isn’t unusual so if you want to keep sticking your fingers in your ears and persuade yourself that you’ve somehow won another argument, you carrying on doing you [Post edited 6 Nov 17:38]

Stoke have signed 8 new players... plus a guy returning on loan. I've no idea how many of these actually play. We've signed 11, one of which is Button and another is Cajuste returning. So that already puts us one ahead of Stoke, assuming all theirs are regualrs and not just padding the squad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025%E2%80%9326_Stoke_City_F.C._season#:~:text=Sto So your first fact is wrong, which leaves the rest open to doubt. I already made the point that our changes have been in crucial positions, including the captain. But I've already wasted enough time on this and can't be bothered to fact check all the clubs. So feel free to have the internet win if it makes you feel good. A win that's simply because I can't be bothered to research all your facts (as you haven't provided any links). Winning the internet is all that's important to you, so I'm sure you'll be fine with that. McKenna and Ashton have both said there's been a bigger churn than we wanted, and I'm happy to be patient with them. You're not and that's your prerogative.

Might be worth checking that again - 7 permanent signings and 3 loans. One of those (Ashley Phillips) was on loan last season so 9 total, as quoted in my post If you’ve got no idea how many actually play then why do you keep repeating so confidently that we’ve had more upheaval than anyone else? By your own admission you haven’t a clue - although if you want more research doing for you the answer is that all of them have played and collectively they’ve made more appearances for Stoke than our new signings have for us

I never said i have given up on the team, the issue i have is across the board, Mckenna not sticking with a settled side, we are constantly making changes. If we are talking Azor then yes i would say tiredness would be a factor as he has played mostly every game, but for some of the others why cant they play twice in a week. Why dont we start with the same team and just make the subs earlier, that way we have some consistency, and yes injuries etc will be a factor thats fine but for the most part have an 11 and let it gel. I will say you make some good points and i take them on board, such as the 10 role, its weak / not working currently, but thats also kind of my point that other than the personal that play there and part of it not working, we are not changing it up. Although having said that Nunez has looked good there the last couple of games and i would like him to stay there. To be clear i am not in the camp of Mckenna out, however i do not think he should blindly get a pass because of past success with a team that was mostly put together by Paul Cooke, Mckenna just got them gelling and firing, which is impressive of course. Last season and this one so far is his team, the previous has been mostly ripped up and we have a new guard, spent a lot of money, but i will say mostly everyone was happy with our business including me, Burgess aside, it was criminal to let him go. With a full pre season and 13 games in i would expect to see a bit more composure at both ends of the pitch from us to be honest. Tuesday for me was just another example of slow build up attacking play, mostly, and not having any ideas of how to break them down to get the winner. I do agree no one misses on purpose but are we really happy with players at this level being paid what they are skying two of the efforts 10 yards from goal and missing a header, when Watford who were poor only needed two attempts at goal and scored one. Same with Charlton they were clinical with their chances and yet we have two champ golden boot winners, attacking talent in jaden and jack on the wings, not forgetting the 17 mil dropped on sindre, cajuste, nunez, the list goes on. We have the most expensive champ team assembled so i will not apologise for expecting a bit better than we have displayed in our recent games at home, and i dont think thats unreasonable to say.

” Tuesday for me was just another example of slow build up attacking play, mostly, and not having any ideas of how to break them down to get the winner.” You make some reasonable points, but this just isn’t a balanced assessment of the game. OK, build up was sometimes slow, but that is part of the game plan. Sometimes it could be quicker, and I certainly get frustrated that our goalkeepers (same with Palmer and Walton) don’t release quickly enough. However, we created the most chances, and FIVE big chances. If you check the other games this midweek, that’s pretty much the highest. FFS, Birmingham only created 3, and won 4-nil. Our problem isn’t the way we play through the pitch, or our phases, it’s our lack of taking those chances. IMO, a lot of people who are frustrated/disappointed in the end result (goals, or lack thereof), focus on the wrong areas. The stats confirm we are creating threat, dominating games and creating the chances (therefore arguably there is nothing wrong with the tactics/gameplay), but those presented with the big chances aren’t taking them. The majority of big chances should result in goals, and were often not doing that. Tuesday was a perfect example of that. Watford had one big chance and took it, we had 5 and took one. We should have won 3/4/5-1. Our lack of finishing resulted in a draw.

I agree with a lot of that. But didn't 4 of those chances come in the last 10 minutes. It doesn't matter massively as the games over 90 minutes. But it would be nice to have more clear cut chances via our starters.

2 in the first half, 3 in the second half. I’d need to delve deeper to identify how many were in the final 10, but given 2 were first half, the balance isn’t so bad.
