But the methods that worked in the run-up to July 2024 are not relevant to the challenge of running a country. The government isn’t a giant constituency party to be captured by a well-organised clique, then purged of irksome, wrong-thinking members.'

Bunch of utter cretins on the right (Farage is my MP and the tvvat might as well be renamed the Seldom Seen Turd, such is his presence in a dying seaside resort), Badenoch is rightly named as a Bad Enoch Powell and I don't trust the Tories even a millimetre, The Lib Dems are led by an utter buffoon, The Greens can't make their minds up whether to be PolitBureau Number 2 or just The Ogpu and The Labour Party are doing what the Labour Party always do - ruining what little they've been left and constantly U-turning. I saw two young blokes in Birmingham on Wednesday picking on a trans woman and said something. Where's that famed British tolerance? Where's the hope?

Polanski taking over the Greens has well and truly pissed on their matches. He's offering a lot of the same messages, but without the overwhelming cascade of incompetence.

What does that actually mean? Tends to be used by people with no sound argument to try and shut down debate by making others look silly. But it doesn’t and is a ridiculous thing to say.

If you’re in Farage’s constituency and you don’t vote you’re enabling him. Your missing vote alone won’t make a difference, but a low turnout overall will help them. It’s always been a case of voting for the better of the bunch, even if they’re all a bit cack.

I disagree. You can’t keep voting for something that is fundamentally dishonest, just to keep the wolf from the door.

Each to their own but I think you can, and I think it’s a defensible position. Certainly as defensible as abstaining or a protest vote. I *may* even vote labour next time round here to keep the reform div from winning, and I despise this government.

Pretty much agree with this, I always advocate remembering that first post-apartheid election in South Africa. Watching the long, long queues of people waiting for hours to perform something they had been denied since birth, sometimes subjected to violence and death threats, was important because it was an antidote to complacency and disconnection as well as being historical and life affirming. So even if there is no candidate that you think is worth voting for you should still be registered, and either spoil your paper with a 'none of the above' or your own unique message.

Agree that the idea you should vote or have to vote is BS but surely if it's Reform vs one of the others it's better voting for the other party?

Sorry you’re correct, of course you can. I don’t think counting yourself out of the whole sorry state of affairs is any worse however, than voting for something you believe to be slightly less shit than the rest.
