To have an owner with such fundamentally flawed understanding of your club and even the sport, that they'd consider this is breath-taking.

| Americans just not getting it part umpteen trillion... on 23:14 - Nov 25 with 1107 views | The_Major | I think the worst example of "just not getting the rivalry" I've ever seen between us and that lot up the road is on the day of the first Bayern match, the Evening Star has the headline "East Anglia United - Ipswich fans cheer on Norwich in Euro clash" - on the basis that they'd hung around the Cornhill, and spoken to three or four people who thought that John Elsworthy still played for us, and hadn't been to Portman Road since about 1958, who then said "Well, I hope Norwich do well, it's good for the region" Whereas the rest of us were playing oompah beer hall music, eating sauerkraut, and cheering on Bayern. For all the good it did. | | | |

Why would they, in a franchise system that is disconnected to place?

This might be my memory playing tricks on me but I seem to remember one of the games vs inter kicked of quite early? Perhaps the away leg? I have recollection of getting the afternoon of school for us to watch it in the class room, being a Norfolk school. Perhaps it was on after school and we stayed late. Anyway, class full of scum supporters and me. I roared when inter scored and a lad named Mark was not amused

Thankfully I don’t recall that disgusting headline. That and the gushing Pickover meets Evans slop should have ended them.

Fast forward 5 years and it could be the newly merged team East Anglian United Vikings with a state of the art stadium in Diss and uprated railway links for football train specials from Norwich and Ipswich. Thankfully Gamechanger at least have had the zoom football history training from Ashton.
