Actually thought we played ok tonight? 22:05 - Nov 28 with 1144 viewsBouncebackIpswich

Despite the result. A better performance than Hull against despite getting 0 points instead of 3. Showing signs of being much more direct and threatening going forwards. Both of Oxfords goals were totally against the run of play.

I'm not opposed to a flounce when the performance merits it but honestly thought we were decent today.

Not sure on that, looked toothless for me, and relapsed back into giving Soft goals away. A fatal combination

I thought there was lots of good things about us. Two slightly freakish goals against us.

Everyone will overreact again but no need to.

We're still heading nicely in the right direction.

Ah, I don’t mind saying we were rubbish. But all teams are rubbish occasionally. Even good ones.

Maybe in some aspects, but the shot and xG figures were very even despite our domination of possession, it's not like tonight was a smash-and-grab.

This certainly wasn't better than Hull. Half a dozen players were well bellow par and the 2 goals conceded were dreadful. Walton actually saved us from being well beaten

Looked sharp for 30 minutes, looked fairly ponderous and toothless for the remaining 60.

If that’s our standard of playing ok these days then we’ve fallen off.

'Two slightly freakish goals' ...

How many times have we said that this season. Against Derby twice, against Charlton, against boro, against watford.

It's not freakish, it's bad defending.

Burnley got promoted last season conceding 16 goals, Leeds 30.

WE ARE ALREADY AT 18.

Conceding the first goal at this level is crucial. It gives the opposition something to defend & changes the game.

We did in patches. It was a very bright opening 25 mins or so, but even then the warning signs were there as we couldn’t muster up a single shot on target in the first half. The opening part of the second half was good too up until we scored.

So it depends how you define ‘ok’. We moved the ball around nicely enough in midfield and created a few decent opportunities. But if you don’t take them it’s all meaningless. We never looked a threat.

I thought we would kick on and we never did. First 10 mins of second half we did. And then just deflated.

Occasionally? Pray tell me which performance besides Sheff Utd (H) and maybe, maybe QPR (A) that we were actually brilliant and blew the opposition out of the water? Most of our wins depended on the opposition self-destructing or being even $hittier than us. Take both out we either draw or lose like tonight.

Surely saying we created a few decent opportunities and we never looked a threat is self contradiction.

For me we created lots of good opportunities, were direct but didn't take them well enough.

Thinl you were watching a different game. Truly awful. No idea how to create a chance. We seriously lack any pace. Touch from most players was awful. Gave two very poor goals away. Lost composure when they scored both times. Clarke was running around like a headless chicken. Davis scored a good goal but apart from that did nothing and was missing for their second goal. Nunez kept falling over and had terrible touch. Hirst wasn't even sure he was playing. Philogene did a couple of tricks but gave the ball away. We can't cross the ball, shoot or defend. Manager got his tactics all wrong again and still hasn't worked out how to break down a team who sit deep. I could continue

Not won a game in the last 30 when we conceded first ! And we seem to hate playing Oxford away , a right bogey ground for us .

Some good spells I thought. Yes liked the more direct passing when we saw balls were on. We mixed it up better than we often have. Alas play often slowed out wide and we didn't show good quality in these areas at all really. Overall we didn't create enough good chances given our dominance of possession, and we also gave away too many chances given how un-gung-ho our build-up play was.

It’s actually pretty sad that some people will take positives out of a lackluster toothless mistake ridden defeat against a team that’s one once at home all year. A few on here are literally insane!

Not really. I never felt confident we were going to make the most of our opportunities. By that I mean the times we got in or around the box in good positions. Our final ball was mostly pretty poor and we made few good chances despite being in those good positions. Do lots of opportunity not much end product. Despite all our possession there was very little between us an Oxford in terms of chances.

First half was terrible. A lot of meaningless possession and passing around the back with 0 shots on target.
