Does anyone know for sure what our acquisition process is 13:17 - Dec 3 with 456 viewsreusersfreekicks

Seen various thoughts on here leaving me wondering what really happens?
Mck identifies targets?
Ashton and the team go after them?
Or something else?
I say this as many of the players we have bought don't seem to fit our "patterns"

I'd imagine it is probably data driven like everything is these days. How that data lines up with our system I am not quite sure at the moment!

I agree that it is data driven, the days of scouts and managers attending games to sees potential recruit perform are long gone, but who actually makes the decision to try to sign a specific player. Hopefully it is the Manager and then it's up to MA and his people to make it happen.

Veni Vidi Participatur. Now we can get back to competing.

It feels like a bit of a mix.

I understand that we've got access to the Brighton data again, which may well be responsible for some of the more decent signings such as Matusiwa and Walle Egeli.

Other signings such as Kipre, Furlong, McAteer, and Akpom I'm less sure about, and it would be interesting to know more about the identification process there, above and beyond the initial question seeming to be 'did they play for West Brom?'.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

It's quite simple really

Young and flashy for the wide men
Must have played for Reims for centre mid
For a number 10 we check whether they've previously been the top scorer in the division
And for a defender we ring up West Brom

You’re just being results based to assess the likely thought process - I’m sure that Akpom, McAteer and others all were glowing bright green from a numbers perspective for us to make the decisions we have made (I know for a fact that they loved McAteer’s data and profile and felt that he was perhaps underrated due to being behind good wingers at Leicester).

The truth is that recruitment is hard and you have more failures than you do success stories. Our pool of available players was relatively slim in the summer in that there seemed to be element of needing mostly tried and tested heads who weren’t quite good enough for the Prem and I think we shopped at the top end of that. I’d say for the second season in a row the ones who you’d probably back to be smart, impressive, close to sure-thing signings are the ones who have disappointed most (Akpom this year and Ben Johnson last, as examples).

I think we batted at a new perfect average for the first few windows of Gamechanger success and have reverted to the mean a bit in the last couple, but I don’t think the process would have changed massively, just need some luck.

Who’s got the bets FotMob rating in the Championship, write a cheque for £15m, especially if they play left side.

In all seriousness, I’m sure there is data drives, but data alone doesn’t work, you have to marry up the science of data with art, personality traits, mentality, attitude, things a data set won’t tell you.

There's been quite a few on here gunning for Ashton ever since he arrived because of some bitter Bristol City fans. They are now blaming him with zero evidence.

Another notorious stirrer has gone in on one of the others at the top. Another clueless div.
