| So 21:00 - Dec 4 with 979 views | GlasgowBlue | Your team for Cov. Not what I think we will go with but....... Walton Johnson O'Shea Greaves Davis Nunez Taylor Cajuste Jaden Walle Egeli Hirst I'm bringing Johnson in to play more as a wing back, like Davis on the left, rather than the more defensive minded Furlong. Young played Tuesday and won't play twice in four days. I'm bringing Greaves back in as he was partnering O'Shea the last time we kept a clean sheet. He also adds more balance being left footed and links up well with Davis. I'm going with a three man midfield at the expense of our number 10. Nunez to play in the deeper role, picking up the ball and spraying it about. Cajuste and Taylor just in front of him. I'm loathed to drop Matusiwa. He has been a standout this season but he's been overplayed and looks knackered. A tired pass cost us a goal at Oxford and he was lucky to stay on the pitch against Blackburn. I'm sacrificing my 10 in favour of the extra midfielder, with Both Jaden and Walle Egeli playing more as a left and right 10 rather than wingers. Having Davis and Johnson as wing backs makes up for the lack of width. Thoughts? | |

Hard to disagree he needs a rest but against the best performing team in the league? Last time he didn’t play we lost 0-3 at home to Charlton… I would have thought they’d try to get him through this one but agree he does need a break. He’ll give himself one through suspension soon anyway.

But Coventry attack the flanks, which means we’d be vulnerable if both David AND Johnson push on. That said this might just be a game where we just go “we’ll score more than you” because they aren’t coming here for a draw, and they do give you chances. We just have to take them.
| So on 23:29 - Dec 4 with 552 views | Len_Brennan | I was thinking something very similar, down even to the potential use of Johnson as a wing back on the right; but I was looking at playing three at the back instead of in midfield - it is Coventry after all. I would also have 2 attackers, Walle-Eegli & Philogene, behind the centre forward, but I wouldn't even see it as sacrificing the central #10, as having a body there has become more a trouble than a benefit, as our wide players look to cut in anyway, where there is very little space; the extra room should benefit our 2 exceptionally talented attackers, while Johnson & Davis can overlap to the byline for crosses & cutbacks, save in the knowledge that we have 3 strong centrebacks & Matusiwa providing cover. Having Taylor, Cajuste or Nunez as the more advanced midfielder, who can arrive late into the central #10 position for those cutbacks, like a Chaplin or even a Tommy Miller of old. Walton O'Shea, Kipre, Greaves Johnson, Matusiwa, Taylor, Davis Walle-Eegli, Philogene Hirst | |

yes, you can't play like wing-backs without a back 3 against an attack-minded side like cov (who've scored 20 (twenty) goals more than the next best team!) , especially if you're going to rest your best defensive midfielder... prefer your team to gb's, but i'd rather not be experimenting with the formation for this game [Post edited 4 Dec 23:47]

O'Shea - Greaves - Kipre McAteer - Matusiwa - Nunez -Davis Egeli - Hirst - Philogene It'll actually be similar players with McAteer and Kipre dropped and a 4231. SB

| So on 00:00 - Dec 5 with 447 views | reusersfreekicks | Wing backs normally play with 3 central defenders. Cov knocking in goals for fun and Johnson at R back!! Nunez at the base of the midfield - ok when we have the ball but not when we don't | | | |

I love the idea of Humphreys in the 10. Why not, nobody else has taken their chance. Good team, maybe Philogene for Clarke but I like it.
