Who's staying up for Algeria v Jordan then? 20:33 - Dec 5 with 891 viewsZx1988

Good God there's some absolute dross in that group stage.

If they make it through, New Caledonia v Uzbekistan could be the 'worst' game in World Cup history?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

In France 98 I sourced tickets for 3 England games (inc. Argentina) and a Paris knockout game. In contrast my Bro got us Saudi Arabia v South Africa, the final group game when they'd both already been knocked out. (No 3rd place sillyness then).

Best part of the day was seeing the touts stuck with handfuls of tickets they couldn't give away.

I won't even bother to watch England unless I'm home or it's on in a bar I'm in when away only really gets interesting in quarter finals. Far to many teams 32 was ample overkill then again its the money 💰

Certainly a downside of expanding the competition to so many nations. Even more ridiculous when you think the whole group stage of 48 across 12 groups only whittles it down to 32. So top 2 plus 8 of the 12 3rd placed sides to go through, a bit ridiculous really.

Looking at the groups, there’s 72 games in that stage and I’d say there’s perhaps 1 game in each group on average that looks remotely appealing to me (England aside).

Reminds me a bit of the rugby World Cup where there’s about 6 nations capable of winning it (if that), another 6 who can play a bit and a whole load there to make up the numbers. Pray for Hong Kong against NZ.

There must have been over 100 lined up trying to sell tickets. There were also, in the stadium several large groups of local authority employees sitting together. Found out later that tickets had been handed out free to fill the stadium.

It was an entertaining game.

Probably those who support Algeria and Jordan. 48 million in Algeria and 12 million in Jordan. It is a world cup not a European and South American cup.
