Yep, I'm not sure there's a team in history, let alone us, that can just cut and paste the perfect new team and be done like on champ manager in my youth. Even our 'successes' from the prem were a case of almost making do or at least seeing what worked best over what they were bought for. Delap was potentially going to be a more wide player, and omari dabbled with central vs wing. Teams evolve and change and accepting this doesn't mean it's any less frustrating and annoying, just realistic.
I still think we've got the bare bones of a great team. I don't think many can argue with that, apart from when they've just lost and played rubbish! O Shea, Davis, matusiwa, philogene, Egeli, Nunez, Clarke. Yes they've been inconsistent amd disjointed and lacking confidence and all of that but that's a top draw bunch to build a team round and the next layer down of kipre furlong greaves cajuste Taylor Walton/Palmer etc aren't terrible players, and a lot of the 'flops' didn't become instantly bad.
It's as you say, remould, rework, a couple more key guys, move some out and maybe pray it all works out.!! |  | | |

It will be interesting if we don't go up to see who goes where. It's conceivable that Jaden, Clarke, and Egeli, possibly Davis, even O Shea, Matusiwa if his form continues, all go to top flight clubs. From a poor season. That's the strange thing in many ways. We have good players that will remain good players and we're not bombing out, we're just a shrug of inconsistency and mediocrity. | | | |

Don't mean to pile in on the misery, but Davis isn't untouchable.
If we go up again we need to defend more and defend better. Davis could 'easily' be replaced a genuine physical defender in that slot. I think McKenna would be loyal, but it's not totally unlikely. |  |

I know it’s unpopular to critics KM but he’s the manager, it’s his shortlist, it’s the players he wanted. Okay, he missed out on targets as well but so do most clubs. KM has to take responsibility for the signings. MA for the over inflated prices such as McAteer. | | | |

I love LD like the next Town fan but he's somewhat overrated. I've read posts on this forum questioning what more he has to do to get into the England side.
Our best player last season was Tuanzebe followed by Delap and Hutchinson. The fact that they are still playing in the Premier League is little surprise, that's how it works.
Gone are the days when you can stay up in the top flight without significant overhaul of the promoted squad. |  | | |

We're clearly not getting the right tune out of them week in week out and it's been a less than positive start but they are not bad players in the main and we are 5th top not 5th bottom.
