He was largely anonymous in the first half yesterday but I thought he showed some promising flashes in the second, obviously for the second goal but also breaking from defence and spraying some decent balls about. Also good that he played 78 or so minutes. I’ve never been his biggest fan and still think he wants to stroll through games at his casual pace but you can see his quality when on the ball. I think he just needs to stop trying to win the cheap free kick (doesn’t work in the Championship) and play his pass/shot quicker to unlock his potential at this level. He’s a player that needs to get into his stride so probably needs a run of games…. He should be bossing the middle imho and racking up much more goal involvements. |  | | |  |

Cajuste can be the best player on the pitch, and the worst, in the same game!
He obviously has the talent but it only comes through in patches. I do wonder if his knee problem, which we haven’t heard anything about recently, is behind it but whatever the reason we need to see more from him. |  | | |

That sort of build up play is what made many of us love him
the issue is that has been doing that once a game and it's not been enough to help us overall
Of course if he's doing that for 90 minutes then that's a world class cm on your hands, we know there's a knee issue which restricts him so it's how do we utilise him to get more out useage out of him. He's asbolutely supremely talented, but doesn't seem to have that switch permanently on.
It's my only criticism of him, running with the ball, deceptively quick and strong and very skillful, but at times, he's got an air of a Jonathan Douglas highlight reel. Just feel his weakness is off the ball.

There were a couple of moments in the Wednesday game that I thought summed him up as a player. The first was him bringing the ball out of defence which led to our second goal, which was a superb bit of play. The second was later on where he stood stock still and tried to roll the opponent, but instead they just walked past him and took the ball. It's frustrating because clearly he is a better player than Taylor, but McKenna hasn't been able to trust him in the last dozen games. |  | | |

Well notably he DIDN'T try winning that cheap free kick when he could probably have got it in the build up to that goal (as posted in this thread). DId so well to stay on feet there and get the ball through. |  |

That pretty much sums up his season so far, his highlight reel won't be a problem, its the other stuff that needs to match it. Especially in a midfield 2 he can't go missing for long periods and not put in the donkey work. I'm not sure if its fitness or mentality, but that's the side of his game where he needs to bring more to the table. If you combined Taylor and Cajuste you would have a hell of a player. There's no doubt Cajuste has a lot of talent but as they say hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. |  | | |

Watched the second half back tonight. Cajuste was excellent. More so then I thought at the game itself. Really knitted things together well. Brilliant for the second goal. As posted above his goal saving header was also huge.
Has to start again for me. Build some momentum as he can be out best player still if we get him really fit and firing! | |
