Have seen some ridiculous suggestions in what is a notorious difficult and overpriced window.

In reality what is prioirty.

- #9 who can hold the ball and create a bit more pace and aggression upfront.

- #5 to replace Matusiwa for any suspension / injury.

That probably is it ??

Think it's going to be pretty difficult to send Akpom back.

Looking at the situation you are probably right. An obligation to buy if we get promotion for £7 million. Seems we backed ourselves into a bit of a corner. But then having got one against Oxford he can step up. That still leaves a messy situation where if we were to get another striker we would have four for two places. I think Azon is a lovely fella, but maybe we would have to bite the bullet and let him go unless KM thinks we don't need a new centre forward.

A striker that can consistently score is all we need IMHO as we don't want too much disruption to team. Finding one however...

Totally agree. Whatever kind. An aggressive Shearer type, a goal hangery Lineker type, a lanky Crouch type, a nippy Owen/Henry type. Anyone who knows how to put it away.

Yes, I tend to agree although there is a case to be made that Nunez has the second most assists in the league and is doing well there and that we should try Egeli as backup.

I think a CM and CF are more important.

If Nunez gets injured our options have so far proven to be ineffective.

Think it’s an important signing.

We've not tried Egeli there.

I'd be happy to get a 10 as long as we also have a CM and CF sorted.

I dont see a 9 as a priority, unless there is an exceptional deal to be done, if we go up we will need better than we can afford and secure now (probably). Dont get me wrong, you are never not in the market for a better striker, im just not sure where we go for that player!

Goals are a priority though, that could be reenforced from either 10, RW or Midfield. Ultimately, these are the kind of positions i would look at to get us through to May. Left back is an opportunity position if something comes up, back up Leif with Townsend out and his contract being up in the summer although for short periods weve seen Greaves do a good understudy job.

We know we will bring in decent players only, more interesting is how we adjust to make the space. Likely to make space by moving out some of Humphries, Johnson, H Clarke, then we have Burns contract up in the summer but he looks like he might make an impact, and Chappers out on loan who could probably still do a job for us.

Some really good players at high cost will presumably be the only way ahead, otherwise how do they get into the side over the finishers who were already recognised high cost players.

Difficult window but we will do some deals.

We haven’t tried Egeli there but it’s a massive risk to go with him there as back up currently.

Id suggest we may not see clarke there anytime soon so we might see egeli going in there at some point

I think that makes sense to me. McAteer and Burns on the right, Clarke and Philogene on the left, then Nunez and W-Egeli in the centre, and most of these have some versatility if needed too.

I've done a quick calculation.

With Nunez starting in his advanced role:
11 games, 25 points, 2.27 PPG
Without:
14 games, 19 points, 1.36 PPG

Inaccurate to attribute the difference solely to Nunez I'm sure, but he is the most creative player in the league, statistically, and in my opinion he's been indispensable. He knits together what has otherwise more often looked like disjointed parts.

If we may keep him and Azor available for most of the remainder in their respective positions, I believe we'll continue as we are. If we sign a top striker but lose either in their specific role, I'm not so confident the former would compensation for the latter. I guess there'd be less urgency to create as much as we do now if Nunez is the absentee but we have someone clinical up front.

It was clear very early on that he's the best No10.

I don't know why it took so long to stick with it.

Hes a proper 10, not like SS or Akpom. Not their fault, they are just not proper 10s for our system.

We need a genuine number 8 to play next to Matusiwa, not a like for like back up for Matusiwa.

If we had got Hackney, I’m convinced we’d already be promoted with him and Azor next to each other. What could’ve been.

Do you think we may go back with a cheeky bid ? Maybe so good Middlesbrough can’t refuse ? Burley did it to Huddersfield remember?

He only has a season and a half on his contract, I think, so Boro may well be happy to sell, but whether he'd want to come now I'm not sure as they are doing just as well
