I think almost everyone on this forum would be in agreement on this, no matter which way they lean politically. We all have different views, but mostly we are all British and care about our country ( although have disagreements on what is best for the country )
Everyone in the UK should be together on this and Starmer as PM has done the right thing in calling for an apology.
Labour, Tories, Reform or Lib Dem it doesn’t matter. Some things we can all join together and agree on.
From a personal point of view this is the most p***d of I have ever been with Trump. I was out of The Army before Afghanistan kicked off but a few of my peers and many of the younger guys I knew served there and one of the younger guys was killed in action and others injured fighting America's war. A war we should never have got involved in but that is another matter. I am still in touch with many of the lads who served and did not serve in Afghanistan on Facebook and the feeling is universal; Trump is a war mongering draft dodging c**t and they all want, lets say, not the best for him.

He calls it constituency matters but actually he's been in spoons all day with Benters.
Morning I had a lovely couple of pints of ‘Mauldons Suffolk Pride’ in the Crackers spoons,it’s brewed in Sudbury. At the decent price of £2.89, in my Colchester town local the same ale is £5.30 incredible price difference really. Unfortunately I didn’t see Nige,I did ask the barmaid a lovely tall girl she was if I could stick one in for Nige and she said ‘yes’.

I hope he’s in a box under the ground soon too. However, the diminishing of others sacrifice to nothing is not new. It’s American policy. In addition to that piece of dog dirt Vance, that latrine scraping Hesgeth came out with this last year
It’s fair to say the Americans recognise no sacrifice of anybody but their own, whether it’s WW1, 2 or the wars of the last 25 years. The U.K.? Hanging back, doing nothing. America did it all.
I don’t think it’s fair to say this if you’re talking about the sentiment of the American people. Just like the polls about Greenland, which you claimed the Average American, wanted to take. The data suggests very much otherwise.
There’s been plenty of pushback on the comments and the line of thought is much closer to this from what I’ve seen and heard.

That sounds nice. I’ll have to try the Suffolk pride when I get the chance.
You are right about Wetherspoons price differential. I was in Bromley ‘Spoons in the week and a pint of Doombar Amber (not too bad - best on offer on Weds) was £2,89. I’ll be in London next week in a bar or two and I’ve a funny feeling whatever beer is whistled up will be more than double that.

An interesting comment from an American (probably Democrat) source.
No, I’m probably not being fair - because I find Trump and his supporters offensive. I’ve met the very people he sought to denigrate and it annoyed me.
Looking at what polls I can find not behind paywalls, America is pretty much divided on party lines. So, if Trump says the British and NATO people ‘hung back’, that is what Republicans will believe. They are the party in power. It’s therefore the official line, as I see it.
Democrats? The majority will hold a different view. I accept that sweeping generalisations are wrong when you are talking about 300m+ people, but I don’t like what I see in that country - or should I say countries. I’ve only been about 20 times, east and west but not in the middle, and the thing that struck me was its vastness.
The difference between peoples from different areas is huge in my very limited experience. It also struck me how insular parts of it are. News tends to be local, a high percentage never travel. Worlds within worlds.
So no, I shouldn’t generalise but however wrong I might be, it’s not half as wrong as the leader of the most powerful nation on earth diminishing to nothing, ridiculing and scorning people from other places that responded to the only time Article 5 has been invoked - by America. Maybe Trump should meet some of the veterans and bereaved. He might learn something, but I doubt it.

The coverage on the World Service I heard yesterday certainly suggested that the implications of what Trump said has got precious little coverage in the US and there has been little in the way of backlash.
Not surprising when organisations such as Fox News have news videos (highlighted by Trump on Truth Social) which portrays Trump's visit to Davos as a triumph.

Fox News and the like make Pravda look impartial.

This might be the most inoffensive thing I've read on the internet, but has got 2 downvotes. Baffling behaviour

The way that everything Biden said was clawed at and proof of his mental decline simply isn't applied this time is it? It's as damning of his cult members as it is him.
Whether you want to label him as a throwback imperialist, a neo-fascist or whatever he is pushing the world to a place it should never be in. How he's not rotting in prison, let alone allowed to be in office is evidence that the USA model is long past broken and not what it claims to be.
As for all the traitors this side of the pond standing behind Farage et al. I've got no faith they'll reflect and repent. This might damage their credibility a little with the less indoctrinated, but we have the same disease in earlier stages over here.

I don’t mind Sharps Brewery Ales at that price who wouldn’t.

To be honest Spoons Ales are very good, and if you are unfortunate enough to get a dodgy pint off them they don’t hang about and change it for you.
I’ve even had a barmaid in there say to me if it’s not good enough for you we will change it.
I draw the line at The Golden Lion in Ipswich when a bar man tried to fill my glass up from the slops tray,I told him to shove it.🤮
Yeah, there’s a pub near me called the Chequers that does that. Disgusting. Used to be a lovely, proper pub but to be utterly avoided now.
My ski chum is really sniffy about Wetherspoons. He sort of resents paying so little for a beer because it must be bad - which as you point out is nonsense. We were in one a couple of weeks ago in Chatham after a lunch and it was a nice environment and the beer was good and dirt cheap. What was not to like?
But the silly s0d still had a grumble, even though we’d waded through a lot of Prosecco and red wine that lunchtime and they could have been serving up the contents of the washing up bowl for all I cared.

A lot of people are sniffy about Spoons but after the first couple of pints who cares if the carpet is a bit soggy in places.😂
