I actually think that so far this season his stock is diminishing and any premier side will be wary of that. Could change come May mind you but I'm not convinced we will be top 2 and let's be honest we should be. We really do need another good run starting from now. [Post edited 31 Jan 17:56]

| Mckenna on 19:16 - Jan 31 with 1302 views | RetroBlue | I was wondering what people think of McKenna the coach vs McKenna the manager? The nan can clearly viach players. They all say independently they feel they have improved sin e joining the club. That's a given when you hiw players like phil and Vlarke have improved. BUT what about McKenna the manager? Different thing surely? Choosing the right tactics for the opposition we're playing. The optimal player combinations ( round pegs in round holes), formation, style of play, game management,. When to sub, who to sub.... is he left wanting in these areas? | |

| Mckenna on 19:42 - Jan 31 with 1221 views | ottovonbismark | I'm convinced he'll be gone at the end of the season, one way or another. Probably an effective coach, but not manager. The team's lack of grit and aggression is a reflection of his personality, he doesn't want players tackling or getting stuck in. | | | |

| Mckenna on 00:01 - Feb 1 with 1037 views | Facefacts | It's fair enough to complain about the penalties not given. The ref was too scared to give any more as he was shocking. Preston players clearly in his ear the whole time and that is what KM was really saying. Shouldn't happen. The laws should still be applied, why weren't we given more penalties? The ref bottled it. Preston knew that. Our manager won't be going anywhere. While Mark Ashton is there he'll want to keep him. Only the owners could remove the pair of them, if they think they're underachieving. I think we must go up this season, the longer we stay in the Championship the harder it will be. I cant see us staying up on deadline night to get a striker, too brutal a world for Ashton to live in, Chelsea throwing us the injured Broja, failed medical. Unfortunately that is the world where we have to do business, but we don't have the appetite for it. | | | |

Not as desperate as replying to your own post an hour later for a second bite!

The first one wasn’t a penalty, town got lucky there even the Ref he’d made a mistake awarding it. After that he was never going to give any more.

Problem now is, Ashton has installed hinself into the two major jobs / positions at the club doesnt he since the last guy retired ( cant think of his name). That has had alarm bells ringing for me as not only is it almost a dictatorship within the club, but interms of workload how fies Ashton do both roles effectively?. Yes the owners have final say but there across the pond and not seeing what is done day to day at the club because they're not there. I feel this is an unhealthy situation with the club.

Also recruitment decisions. How come we spent £40m in fees on the right side of attack, yet Burns is still the first choice there. And getting the best out of players. How come we signed two recent Championship golden boot winners yet neither is scoring goals for us.

For sure he's been the best manager since Royle but like many managers in this league before him has he hit his ceiling? I hope not but only time will tell.

| Mckenna on 09:27 - Feb 1 with 585 views | ElderGrizzly | I’ve said before, there is more chance of him going if we get promotion vs if we don’t. I just think he won’t want 2 (potential) relegations on his CV this early on. Better off taking a lower-end established PL job who would still be 5 years+ ahead of us. | | | |
| Mckenna on 09:27 - Feb 1 with 580 views | nrb1985 | Liam Rosenior is the manager of Chelsea and Michael Carrick is the boss of man United. McKenna is exactly the kind of profile top clubs want now. You are delusional and or don’t understand modern football if you think there will be any shortage of takers for him this summer. | | | |

Carrick is there temporarily and due to Man U connections. Rosenior partly due to sister club and also family ties to Chelsea. Would be very surprised if either were to get jobs elsewhere in the PL unless of course they go on to prove themselves.

He’s got us promoted from this division once before and coached in the premier league. How is being 4th in the Championship his ceiling?

It shouldnt be his ceiling, but the way the season is progressing it seems as if it might be.

Last year was awful let's not pretend it wasn't. 1 win at home all season. That said he earnt the right to be safe from that which he has been. With a more expensive squad that is his we are struggling to get top 2. This of course may change and who knows maybe next year he gets us to 4th bottom in the PL but as I said we won't know yet, but 2/3 into the season it's not quite going to plan is it?

As per previous post it is demonstrably not his ceiling is it given he’s coached in a higher league than the one we are already in. There’s things you can criticize KM for legitimately this season but there are some shocking takes in this thread.

Just struggling to see the positives. A horrible looking month ahead but equally how many players do we have prem ready? Last two seasons has shown we can't gel a new team quickly so say we do go up what happens then?

I don't know the answer to any of those questions, I was replying to the remark he'd hit his ceiling. Maybe just for a walk and get a coffee rather than worrying too much.

Yeah, you're right - McKenna doesn't have any connections with top PL clubs. Oh wait, wasn't he well integrated in ManU and Spurs? Well. there goes that proposition.

That's a bit like saying Manning has a connection with Ipswich will he replace McKenna?
