Very well put šŸ‘

But just dont expect certain posters to grasp the content.

I don't. You can expect those with a tendency to entitlement to argue against how it's defined. Because 'football and football fans are different'.

You've basically described why its all expectation not entitlement.

Fans dont own ltfc. Therefore they dont a right to anything. Therefore that passion that anger is one of expectation and disappointed not resentment as fans have no claim over the club as they dont own the club. The owners however could feel entitled based on their input. The fans cant be owed anything... so they can not feel any entitlement at all when it comes to football.

Town fans purchasing tickets. Their right is to see a game of football as long as they see that then thats their right and they are entitled to that. If the game doesnt go how they want it to its failed to meet their expectations. They are not entitled to any result. They can voice anger at their expectations not being met however.

LOL - you really didn't understand it did you Frimmers.

Your example of ' I bought a ticket, therefore I've an expectation of a good result' is exactly entitlement. You can expect to see a game of football, but it's entitlement to believe you're owed a good result. Let me give you an example that is not football, and has been often used to demonstrate what entitlement is.

In a relationship, when you take someone out for dinner and pay for dinner, it is expectation that the other person will appreciate it, and is entitlement to expect s3x because you paid for dinner.

Paying to go to a match does NOT entitle you to a good result.

Instead of coping dictionary definitions, maybe look at it in the context of football economics, our huge advantage this season and what stable parachute clubs have done in the last 5 years.

It's not a dictionary definition, it as well understood description of Entitlement vs Expectations, used by psychologists and in legal considerations. Just because it doesn't match the rhetoric on here, doesn't make it wrong.

However, I have no expectations that some will want to deny any evidence that their behaviour is entitlement.

I literally said buying a ticket does not entitle you to any result.

youve bought a ticket you may expect a win because you feel we are a better team than the opposition. The ticket doesnt mean your team will win. You are owed nothing by going other than watching a game of football. You are entitled to that game of football. Not the performance level. Not a certain score just the simple fact the game takes place. Thats your entitlement.

Your non football example is bizarre. You again are not entitled to sex no. You may expect it but it's not owed to you there for you are not entitled to it.

If you however paid for a date that came with sex as that's what you'd purchased then you would then be entitled to that as that is what you are owed.

You can not be entitled to ANYTHING unless it actually is owed to you.

Whilst complaining about losing isn't entitlement itself, there are a lot of comments about how we should walk this league and being doing better because of all the money that we've spent. That's the entitlement the OP is shooting for and one I agree with. Just because we have been in a fortunate position to drop a load of cash on players doesn't mean we will suddenly be a great team.

Too many fans expect us to win rather than hope that we do.

Margot Bryant always hoped Town would win - although she was based up North.

Yes its used in legal consideration as its based on what you feel is owed to you.

That does not come into football expectations. You can expect what ever you want. You can then get angry about it. Moan about it all you like.

But at no point as a town fan are you entitled to anything other than what you have paid for.. that could be a town shirt. A ticket. A town subscription to town tv. You are owed those that you've paid for and are entitled to those products.

Everything else is all expectation.

The word entitled ie beyond ridiculous in a sport where the only ones who can be entitled are the owners as they may have invested in return for financial gain. Brand exposure etc etc so would feel they are owed success.

and that sums it up really doesnt it.

without wishing to sound rude, is there a way i dont have to see your posts/replies?

mostly unnecessary name calling (just because we have different opinions) but what i find mad is that it appears you dont even get to many games, but have the audacity to call me names and question my support. i'd happily discuss football if you offered an insight, but it seems you have no interest in that really.

Legal definitions now lol. It’s not that deep, it’s simple football economics tbh.

The owners and those clued up enough understand what this season represents and will have had very clear expectations about objectives and know what’s required. Just because you and a few others want to make yourself feel better if it falls short, don’t expect other people to change them if we fail.

Money = Entitlement in all walks of life. (n/t) on 08:54 - Feb 22 by jasondozzell

Yep. And it's horrible to witness.

It's really souring everything.

Let's face it. There's basically ten thousand people plus who turned up by after Game changer brought the money and success who weren't interested when times were tough.

I overheard several conversations yesterday on the train back where people were talking about it as if it was the worst away performance they'd ever seen and all their references were Gamechanger era ones.

We've become horribly entitled and it's pretty shocking that at the first point of a little bit of adversity in this era so many aren't interested in supporting the team..

Another way of looking at this could be because Game changer spent a lot of money on the current team our supporters believe they are Entitled to more wins than loses. Then we have a side relegated from the Prem then there is an Expectation we will be promoted back to the Prem. KMc schooling from Spurs and Man Utd may have reached it's peak in team management. We may need more football Senior help. We have a group of football/business personnel in the background who may not be fully focused on the first team and somehow are direction up the league is not going to plan. Yesterday result maybe another hiccup which still can be resolved with better results in the remainder of the season. Therefore for those who travelled to Wrexham witnessing two defeats have thrown their toys out of their prams (fair enough). But having supported Town for over 55 years this is blip towards promotion not relegation. Definitely not as severe in being relegated to League one. This is a Project with setbacks. The Expectation of a better football club in Ipswich is good not an Entitlement.

Poll: Should there be a min football stadium capacity for each League. eg Cham 20K

i most certainly do not, i have the odd sarcastic comment, but i dont believe i've mouthed off on here or real life.
i vent a bit of anger after a poor result, but if the message on here is anything to go by, its far better i vent on here as opposed to in a stadium infront of kids and the players.

so i know what i'm dealing with, may i ask

- are you a season ticket holder? if so, for how long?
- how many away points are you on?

edit - you know what - just ignore all that. i cant be bothered with any tit for tat. i literally just want to discuss itfc, my longest love in my life. i support in the way i do, in person, weekly, passionately. having a moan if things arent great at times doesnt mean anything. i know what i am

i'm sorry but that is a pathetic take on how some people feel.

thousands of us have been here when we didnt have a pot to piss in, and thousands will be here after all this goes too.

but to be angry at losing in the manner we did, especially after a piss poor performance last friday at the same ground, isnt fcking entitlement.

im sure you'll be rewarded heavily with arrows up, and me probably down, but jesus christ - entitlement!

I expect us to capitulate now just the same as I did away at Hull in 2015.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

There’s no need to project what I think. Where am I trying to make myself ā€˜feel better’? You always have to make it personal, don’t you. That’s not a very endearing trait. But each to their own I guess.

All I’ve done is clarify the (well understood) difference between Entitlement and Expectation, since many keep trying to claim there’s no entitlement going on with the toxic abuse being hurled at the players, club and manager.

Am I happy with us struggling to close out some games this season. No,I’m not - I’m very disappointed and frustrated on numerous occasions. Do I feel the need to be to toxic towards the team or other fans on here. No I don’t. And I’ll continue to point out when people on here are out of order, and try to redefine certain terms ā€˜because they feel uncomfortable’ being associated with such behaviour.

Some fans, at the game and on here, are 100% behaving in an entitled manner with the abuse they’re throwing around ā€˜because they are entitled to better from the club’, and however much they want to deny that, it doesn’t change the reality of how they’re behaving.

Anyway, I’ve have enough of some of this juvenile, playground antics and will leave it at that.
