| Wes Burns 12:58 - Feb 22 with 3391 views | DJR | I don't think I've seen a thread about him but my friend and I thought he was by some way our best player yesterday. Indeed, the fact that he is starting games suggests to me that McKenna considers him (his first signing?) our best option in that position. Indeed, I remember first seeing him in that friendly game at Dartford. [Post edited 22 Feb 13:01]

I am interested to know who else you would suggest. I suppose a case could be made for Azon, but in my view not really anyone else. [Post edited 22 Feb 13:04]

Thought Anis, Azon, Taylor were better. Though as said on another thread Taylor failed to win his header for the first goal and our midfield got played through very easily and looked too high

Whilst he had a hand in two goals, Taylor gave the ball away far too much and was largely anonymous, and I thought Mehmeti wasn't the influence that he was at Derby because for much of the game Wrexham outplayed us. But it's all about opinions. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Good point, well made. Maybe I've just tried too hard to remove the Cook era from my memory.

Burns likely playing for a future contract with Wrexham. Welsh lad, friendly with Broady.

Think Ashton later reported it as £60k. Pound for pound must be one of the best signings in our history. Out of contract in the summer. He's 31 and coming back from a nasty injury but I wouldn't be against offering an extension bit suspect he'll want longer than we'll offer.

Burns limped off injured at Derby. Not involved in our three goals yesterday, but agree he's easily our best option. We won't get much more than 60 mins from him this season, and there's otherwise an abyss at right-10. Can see why KM tried to sign a new one last month. We've spent 40m on that position since summer 2024.
| Wes Burns on 21:42 - Feb 22 with 1889 views | michaeldownunder | With or without the ball Wes opens up the pitch for other players on both sides of the pitch. Hugging the line and also coming in at the far post late so he is unnoticed, He also does a great job back tracking to help our fullback on that side. | | | |

He must be as over £40m spent on replacements that are not as good.

If Ashton said it was £60k, it wasn’t £60k. Contractually though, think it will depend on the division. If we are in the Championship would offer Wes a 2 year extension, if we were promoted, it may be the time he moves on. Will be a very sad day when Wes leaves this football club, what a footballer he has been for us, what moments he has delivered, in the same vein as Broady and Chappers.

Just an offensive stupid and pathetic post. If Ashton said it was £60k, there is absolutely no basis to call him a liar. Seriously. F off. You aren't a supporter. You are an entitled twot.

| Wes Burns on 23:16 - Feb 22 with 1644 views | alexlanark64 | I play a game of "does Burns make it happen" every time he gets the ball and 90% of the time the answer is yes. He -wins a corner -gets a cross in -attempts and sometimes succeeds in a sublime cut back -get a decent, productive pass, to a team mate Rarely does he, get tackled, fall over, we lose possession and suddenly find ourselves defending. Unlike a lot of other players ATM. He's ace, so glad hes back. | | | |

I like the sound of that game. I might start playing that one, too.

| Wes Burns on 09:22 - Feb 23 with 1234 views | mellowblue | I remember a storming game by him for Fleetwood against us so I was pleased when he signed. What I like is that he always plays to the best of his abilities every match, you know what you will get from him and I think that appeals to McK. You can't say the same at the mo for McAteer or Sindre. Really good honest pro. We will always remember that outside of the boot curler. Perfect team and individual goal. | | | |

I wonder if he could play the Furlong role ? He is strong and effective in the tackle and 1 v 1 s not as good as Furlong but in those low block games does he need to be ?

| Wes Burns on 07:55 - Feb 25 with 638 views | DJR | Wes Burns made all the difference last night when he came on. He added intensity, directness, pace and skill to the team just when we needed it, and had a hand in the second goal, as well as putting in a great cross where Azon was arguably fouled. And it's not just me saying that, Mick Mills took the same view. What a gem he is. | | | |

Having Mick Mills share your opinion might not be the supporting evidence you think it is. Unbelievable player, not a great summariser in my view.. Burns has been excellent though. SB [Post edited 25 Feb 8:13]
