Which of you is the drone nerd? Any likely suspect suggestions?

And what would the ref have done if it hadn’t just flown off? We could do with getting yet another game in hand, so perhaps it was Ashton!

I thought it may have been the clubs or at least something the club was aware of as the ref seemed to get a thumbs up from a bloke near the bench and then he spoke to the fourth official.

It shot off as soon as the game was halted (I was sat in the South and watched it hover over first the Cobbold and then the North).

Was it Mick Mills? He's always droning on.

No, the police are investigating.

I believe it slipped through US air defences and is now over the Atlantic heading to the US.

If the drone remained over the stadium, then the players would have to return to the dressing rooms.

I enjoyed their typo… but it doesn’t mention abandonment, if necessary?

If the drone is not passing or appearing to leave, where possible the Referee should advise both teams to return to the changing room, similar to if there was lighting.

It’s a serious issue. You can’t have those things buzzing around the stadium. Think what would happen if it took an image of Clarke if his hair wasn’t perfect!

I’m a drone nerd having just purchased one, but that wasn’t mine. That was quite a large one that scuttled off quickly after being spotted by the ref. Suspect the owner was somewhere on PR to begin with as it hovered over Cobbold for a while then suspect he moved around north stand as it flew over. Once spotted the light went off and it quickly darted towards West Stand
You are not allowed to fly over gatherings of people so they are in breach of their CAA licence, which they should have.
Much easier to get a dodgy stick or a ticket if you want to watch the game

Has anyone noticed that Dan Neil looks like a dead ringer for Clarke, apart from the hair?

Do all Sunderland players look like that?

I’ll cross you off the list.

My question is more, what would happen if it had stayed hovering? If our security checks are anything to go by, I’m sure we / the police have a policy to do something, but I have zero faith in it being enacted effectively (e.g. signal blocker / tracing the pilot / Bart Simpson slingshot), in a quick enough manner to prevent the game being abandoned.

We'd have allocated a player to attempt to knock it out of the sky. My money is on Nunez.

Wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes in Mick's day, probably safer on the pitch.

Suspect the police would have been deployed to walk around the ground and locate them then arrest them
Would love to have seen their face when they saw on their screen the ref pointng up at their drone

Note to self - work out how to turn off the light just in case i need to in an emergency

I remember some years ago a Town away game at Forest, where a drone (not a common sight then) appeared over the river end stand, opposite us, then hovered over the pitch for a bit before going back whence it came. Neither the Ref nor players appeared to notice it.

Much later, saw some footage on YouTube which looked as if it was taken from that drone flight.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Slipped through UK defences you mean, whilst Starmer weighs up if it’s legal to bring it down or not, which means it could still be buzzing around Saturday for the Leicester game the time he takes to make a decision on anything .

There was a guy prosecuted for drones over the City Ground. Our game isn't one of those listed but it may have been the same fella.
