| Projected final tables 12:49 - Mar 10 with 1473 views | Smoresy | Haven't seen Guthrum's excellent work lately so thought I'd produce three mini ones for the top four, given Hull now require a 10-point swing to catch the Boro and that ain't happenin'. 1) If teams match season-long home and away form across remaining home and away games: Cov 95.5* Boro 88.5 Wall 83 Town 82.5 *Rounding to 0.5 of a point, in recognition of how vitally earned every point is at this stage. 2) if teams match recent* home and away form across remaining home and away games: Cov 93 Boro 90 Wall 88.5 Town 85 *Always a bit arbitrary and prone to manipulation, this calculation is based on the past 6 home results and past 6 away results for each team, so roughly two months of football I'd wager. Quicker not to muck about with Gav's presets on the TWTD form tables! 3) Guthrum's* estimated table: Cov 96 Boro 92 Town 87 Wall 87 *If I understand his formula correctly (for each team you add the points total from their last X results to their current total, with X = no. of games left to play. No distinction is made between home or away games in this table; it's pretty much what would happen if the past 10 games run repeats, but for us playing 11.) Conclusions: Form is often lost as quickly as it's calculated or recognised; no death knell to be found here! Be gone doom-mongers. But it does point to teams above us enjoying rich veins presently, so much so that two sides are once again threatening 90+ in the Championship. At one stage, 85 felt the more likely threshold this season. Hopefully it still will be! Lastly, our away form has improved of late but it needs to accelerate again; it must become indistinguishable from our home form really, better than even, starting at sorry Stoke. Time to break out from previous form, short, medium or long, and blossom into the bright beautiful blue butterfly we believe ourselves to be (steely butterfly, not delicate). Go Town go. | | | | |

Whilst I want us to be successful this season, the Premier League can be a pretty miserable place. Especially with lack of atmosphere, the poison of VAR and the cynical tactics. The money is useful though.

That's exactly how I feel. I want to win promotion, but not that arsed about Premier league football!

That's why its important to just enjoy the journey. As a football supporter to be following your team when they're arguably the best side in the division on its day, going into every game with a really good chance of winning, approaching the 'business end' where all the games feel really important and with a high level of jeopardy. That's what its all about innit.

If we win all our games, we finish above Boro. But it seems like people are forgetting that in the conversations on the radio, X and everywhere else. I'm not saying we will do it, but I find it interesting that this part gets overlooked. I heard on Talk Sport this week that "Coventry are up, and after this weekend, Boro will be 5 points ahead of Millwall, so they're basically promoted" - but no one mentioned that Ipswich and the second spot are still very much in our hands! Obviously the answer is Liverpool, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be fun to watch!
