Would you rest Matusiwa for the Sheffield Wednesday game? 11:30 - Mar 12 with 1708 viewsLen_Brennan

After 17 games without getting a booking, Azor has just one more to get through before the 2 match ban for 10 yellow cards rule expires.
A yellow against Wednesday would result in him missing both the Millwall & Brum games, which are massive at this point, so maybe it's not a risk worth taking against the worst Championship side in quite some time. We've seen some pretty soft yellows given out this season.
Also, he could probably do with the rest, seeing as he has been playing all season.

Didn't McKenna say he is injured and a doubt anyway?

didn't he come off with a hamstring injury on Tuesday? maybe decision is made for us

I was seriously scratching my head at why we would withdraw him for those final 5-10 mins (ensuing defensive chaos shows how much we struggle without him)

but yes if we can find a way to organise in a way that means he can rest and reset the yellows that would be excellent - just important not to underestimate this Wednesday side - they weren't that bad at portman road

If he is fit, absolutely not. I don't care If Wednesday are on -500 points they are a professional football team who just got a point vs Watford. If one of our best players is fit he should play in the game. Its very important we win it.

Sounds like he wont be fit anyway mind.

I said it a couple of days ago - I wouldn't play him against Weds, even if he's available.

Not a chance, if he's fit. We need our best players to play where possible. Besides, we could rest him so he doesn't miss the 2 matches, and he could injure himself in training only to end up missing those games anyway! Then you would regret not playing him.

do we rest azor, furlong, mehmeti by positivity 11 Mar 16:54
for wednesday, so we definitely have them available for both brum and millwall?

appreciate azor's injury might make his involvement a moot point

(edit, not soton anymore!)

Isn't that why we brought Neil into the squad too. More cover for that role, but recognising he is more box-to-box than Matusiwa.

I'd play Neil and Taylor vs Sheff Wed as a central 2, because it would be the Ipswich way for him to get that booking in the 90th minute of that game.

No.

Best foot forward, take nothing for granted. Get the 3 points in the bag and full focus on Wall.

If we've got a cushion I'd take him off though.

Exactly my thinking. Its hardly taking Sheff Weds lightly by bringing Neil into the side, not like we would be replacing Azor with a 17yr old with no experience. As you say,Neil was brought in to be,another strong option for us and it makes sense to use him.

Nah, play the best team.

Bring him off at half time if 2-0 up if needs be.

Assuming he's fit, I'd at least have him on the bench, just in case.

If fit, on the bench. Only to be used in emergency.

Just hoping his 'injury' was a precaution.

What about Furlong? 1 yellow away. Bring Johnson in? Can't shift O'Shea to RB as ,Kippers is banned.

We may yet see Baggott start in a league game soon!

Not for me. Think Elkan will move on permanently in the summer. Can't see him play for us ever again.

Yes I would rest him, if we're not capable of beating them without him we're really in trouble!!

I think we'll absolutely need him for Millwall and probably Birmingham too, I don't think it's worth risking him.

Agree, play your best team, Weds nearly pulled off some results of late, we will need to be at it.
