An awful lot of nurseries/childcare facilities on that list.

and then there's this one which the child in me had a slight chortle at...

28. Mr R J Irving, Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, M21, failed to pay £34,861.56 to 1 worker.

No surprise to see a lot of food suppliers/farms and day care businesses on there, but I was surprised to see businesses like Harvey Nichols on the list.

Charlton Athletic as well as Norwich City.

Shame on all of them.

Walsall council are there. As someone who works local authority and knowing how tight financial processes are, this is a surprise.

Not a good look for any of them, but shame on the scum!

Norwich City have released a statement:

"Norwich City Football Club regret deeply the fact that we have slightly underpaid some highly valued, but low paid, members of our team.

Our accounting department colleagues still use their fingers and thumbs for addition, and sometimes, regrettably, small errors are made when converting back from base 12 to decimal.

We have repaid the deficits with interest, and are proud to say that our employees are now, metaphorically as well as literally, one big happy family again."

Probably best not to gloat too much...those of us with long memories will be aware of many local companies that were paid 5p in the pound following our descent into administration.

There are a huge number of workers at some of those establishments. Surely that can't mean individual workers?

No - I would imagine that the number of workers referred to in the listing will be the number of workers who've been underpaid.

The top listing would equate to approximately £229 per affected employee, which would seem generally correct if, for instance, an uplift to NMW wasn't applied, or was applied incorrectly.

Although very different in that administration was forced upon us by circumstances outside of our control, not applying a NMW increase is well known and widely published well in advance and is all over the news broadcast's. So to miss paying it is not just a mistake, it is incompetence at the highest level.

There’s some very established and sizeable outsourcing facilities management companies on that list that are big names in supply to the public sector including the NHS and Government departments.

There is no excuse.
