| Protest 21:01 - Mar 28 with 10226 views | jasondozzell | We can't just let Ashton get away with this. They are banking on apathy and time meaning it all just goes away. I know a lot of you feel the same. It puts them under pressure but I am hoping that Blue Action can do something. They saved the club from Evans and they can do the same with Ashton. | | | | |

| Protest on 10:36 - Mar 29 by Ipswich_Crazy | A protest would seriously damage our chances of promotion. The players need our support more than ever. |
I suspect quite a few of the players are likely to be pretty upset about what has gone on as well. Probably best you don't decide what they do and don't think is appropriate. Also, when was a protest about the board/CEO ever a protest about the players? They will still have everyone's support. Whether a protest should be made is a valid debate but it shouldn't be around a protest meaning not supporting the players. SB [Post edited 29 Mar 13:45]

I think the distraction and negative energy of a protest is the last thing we need at this stage of the season. Only the board will fully understand what went on and any action should be saved till the end of the season. We just need to get behind the club for the remaining 8 games and finish the job.

I would hazard a guess that a group of people who have formed a bond of camaraderie from a very young age, with people of multiple nationalities and faiths, would find Farage's views abhorrent and wouldn't want him anywhere near the club they play for. Of course there will we exceptions. There are well known cases of racism involving professional footballers in the past. But less so in the modern game.

I know you likely don't want evidence, but just want to push your own view in the face of anyone elses. However, I have taken it upon myself, on my return, to try to engage with everyone in good faith in the hope that maybe they will return the favour (until such time it is clear that they will not). So... here is some evidence for you: " Farage’s visit was openly discussed among the first-team players when they convened for training at their Playford Road base, several querying how he had been allowed to project himself from areas that are sacrosanct to them on a matchday. A diverse, particularly engaged squad was left unimpressed. It is the last thing Kieran McKenna needs, or deserves, as Ipswich prepare for an eight-game sprint towards promotion next month. Errors of this gravity touch every area of a club. " Source: https://www.theguardian.com/fo

SB Purely guesswork at best from you about the players, not everyone supports the left wing views. Go back to the brexit debate on here, most of you were calling everyone who supported it as racist etc. but that probably pushed them to voting leave. Your left wing government wont get a second term and it is highly likely that Reform will get voted in due to a lot of people totally losing faith in the Tories and Mr u turn himself who blatantly lied to get into power and then dropped his promises so qyuickly. i.e. Waspi women! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Do you think that protests and the extraction of 2 of the most important and most experienced senior leaders at the club for the remaining 8 games could perhaps have a negative impact in terms of taking the focus away from our main objective, promotion to the Premiership?

Why do you want to make this a political points scoring exercise? It is to diminish the real issue at hand. Indeed, but he won’t go down without a fight- this and Ashton’s actions/choices are bound to be more ‘disruptive’ to the team than any protest.

There has been a number of hints that is the case and it doesn't take a huge leap of logic to think that many of our foreign players may be fairly upset at us hosting a party that holds the views that Reform does. I suspect quite a few of the home grown players would be upset as well. Nice you've resorted to insults again though, good work. SB

I would love to see your political framework diagram some time, because genuinely we have not had any meaningful politics anywhere close to what mainland europe would call "left wing" for some time. Yes, some recent Green policies sit more left than centre-right labour, centrist Lib Dem or right-wing tory or fash Reform, but they are largely pretty standard centre-left policies in most developed democracies. I beg you to visit the Nordic nations, or even a nice weekend in Bologna, to get a little perspective outside your very weird head.

There is a valid argument to be made that it could be a distraction but if that is the case it's on the club and their poor handling of the situation rather than any fans who wish to voice their concerns. We need to get behind the players, I think some would say that is not the same as getting behind the club. It's pretty clear you want to sweep this all under the carpet. I am not saying there should be a protest, I am saying if some fans wish to voice their disapproval they should be allowed to. SB [Post edited 29 Mar 14:41]

I'm not sure who Zed is, and I am quoting from a news outlet that has reported on this. If it was The Telegraph I would do the same. You asked for evidence, I provided it, then you failed to engage with said evidence. If you are resorting to making things up about my political views, which you are, then I would turn the standards you have applied on me back on you, and ask you to provide me evidence of where I have ever stated my political views here, or anywhere online. You literally have no idea who I am, you have made assumptions and now you are doubling down to win an argument that is in your head. Despite all of this, I am still prepared to engage with you in good faith, if you will do me the same courtesy. [Post edited 29 Mar 14:43]

Things swept under the carpet never stay there though, the bumps reveal all the carnage that's been hidden away. In any case, this is more like bodies under the patio than dust under the carpet, and we know sooner or later it all gets dug up again, exhumed and understood.

Not at all, but i think any action should be saved till the end of the season. Sweeping things under the carpet implies to forget about things entirely. I'm not suggesting that, but i am fearful of it taking the focus away from the football, which benefits nobody.

I'm honoured that you've chosen to direct your 7th post on the forum directly to myself. "Purely guesswork at best from you about the players, not everyone supports the left wing views." Educated guesswork given the nationalities and ethnicity of many of the players and it looks like other posters now have sources that this is the case. "Go back to the brexit debate on here, most of you were calling everyone who supported it as racist etc. but that probably pushed them to voting leave." I don't think that is the case but out of interest, how has Brexit turned out.....
