I have just woken up to $118 a barrel news. 05:07 - Mar 30 with 1453 viewsMercian

And rising. That is untenable. I only work two hours a day due to injury and illness. I have a six o'clock start in Nottingham 10 miles away and have a badly injured foot so driving is very difficult and buses do not run that early. I am getting to the point where it simply is not worth working. Something has to be done.

It was daft that they started it, US certainly caused a mess here, but I think the rest of the world is going to have to fix it and police those straights. No good just tutting from the side-lines while the world burns. Or runs out of fuel.

My understanding is that the issue is an insurance one, and I am not sure if insurers will be satisfied if tankers are accompanied by naval vessels, which themselves may end up as targets.

The only solution to this seems to me to be for Trump and Netanyahu to stop the war but as they don't seem to care about the consequences of their actions on the region and the rest of the world, they won't be doing that out of the goodness of their hearts.

it's in trump's interests to end the war, but he's not one to admit he was wrong.

no reason for israel to stop as they're not reliant on either of the routes around the gulf, or affected by the oil price.

The world isn't going to run out of fuel. Well those sympathetic to Iran won't.

Iran is exporting more oil now than before the war started.

It is available with escort, but I think only India is doing for its shipments as far as I’m aware. Even so it would be very dangerous even with naval support - several ships have been hit and Iran is effectively offering a piracy policy, reportedly collecting millions for ‘safe passage’ (mostly to non western countries).

The irony, is whilst the US soften sanctions on Russian oil (which won’t be sufficient to abate prices) they are providing support to Iran - playing Trump for a fool.

In fairness, working to help solve the problem, in particular via diplomacy, is a different proposition to joining Trump in creating the problem.

That essentially means letting Trump do whatever he wants and then clearing up after him.

The world definitely shouldn't do that, he needs the push back or things like this will keep happening.

I'm unfortunately one of those who uses kerosene (heating oil) for central and water heating. For years, I've paid between 30p and 40p per litre, although that increased a little after brexit. I fill my tank once per year and last year I paid just over 50p per litre (which I moaned about). A neighbour told me yesterday that he's just paid 135p per litre, which was similar to the price of petrol, including all of its duties, before this shit show began.

I reckon I have about a month's worth of oil left. I usually buy about 1500 litres, last year cost me under £800 Inc vat. At 135p, that's £2126. Hoping for some warmer weather soon because I've already warned the family to expect cold evenings and showers!

Exactly, it will hit us in the pocket but if this carries on Trump is getting smashed in the mid terms which is great news for the world.

He might bluster on, but he knows he has to fix this and quick.

Winning.

Markets are apparently starting to talk of $200 a barrel as Trump threatens to blow up all Iranian oil infrastructure or not blow it up and take it all for the USA.
