I was following it at the time, and was obviously horrified but he just kept doubling down on it. It wasn’t like the first thing he did was that - he lost his Adidas deal (and $2bn in 1 day), which led to more deranged rants about being cancelled and then published these things.
I’m not excusing him for what he did, it’s wrong - but I would say his case is more similar to John Davidson at the Brits than it is to a genuine Nazi, and it seems wrong to marginalise people with mental health issues for outbursts caused by said issues. Is what he did a criminal offence under UK law? |

That was followed in 2025 by what we might term Kanye’s second Nazi period (quite literally, with comments such as “I am a Nazi”), various hideous statements about Jews, and of course the release of a song called “Heil Hitler”, which rapidly became the anthem of some sort of bizarre post-racial far right. And because this has now happened multiple times, a lot of Jewish people I know have adopted a “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me” approach to the man.

I think this is where it gets difficult. Most people with bipolar can be sectioned or equivalent if they are in a manic episode - he has millions of Twitter followers at his fingertips and people around him that will do whatever he says and not challenge him |

even if you take the most charitable reading, that his racist outbursts are wholly attributable to his bipolar disease, what's to stop it occuring again from the stage at wireless?
given his previous apologies and relapse into full-blown nazism, he needs to show his behaviour is under control before we should consider giving him a visa to perform.
for me, this would be a minimum of a couple of years, however i'm not jewish and recognise that the community may understandably be more cautious.
on top of all this, he's a trump nut, and we have enough dangerous hate preachers over here in reform without taking in another one |  |

I couldn’t give a monkeys whether he has bipolar disease or an ingrowing toenail. Trump nut, Brazil nut, Putin or whatever nut. People like that, whatever they are ranting against, should be told ‘no, go elsewhere’ and not ever allowed here along with any other hate merchant.
