| Bookies odds for promotion 11:56 - Apr 7 with 1660 views | OldFart71 | I know it's no guarantee and bookies have been wrong before, but some are taking no chance that Town get promoted. Many are now showing odds of 1/10, with the best being 1/5. | | | | |
| Bookies odds for promotion on 12:04 - Apr 7 with 1557 views | DarkBrandon | Trying to step back a bit we are: 1) In the second promotion spot 2) Have two (2) games in hand 3) Millwall and (especially) Boro aren't in good form. Boro are in terrible form 4) We've been pretty consistent all season - apart from the poor first 4 games. 5) We've got a manager that has done this before 6) Although some players are injured/unfil we've got a deep squad (see Johnson, McAteer) But it feels far far from a foregone conclusion. We've got so many away games, and very few games you'd go into with a lot of confidence. | | | |

Fans never go into any game at this stage of the season with a lot of confidence. C'est normal.

My first words were "No guarantee". I must admit I am a bit of a pessimist. That isn't to say I look at the games we have and determine we won't come out on top (well second really). You have to say it's in our hands. Reasonably good form should see us through as where at one time the games in hand were enabling us to catch up, they are now meaning we could pull clear. I don't take anything for granted. I have been around too long to ever do that.

Yeah I feel we have a tougher run in than Boro. That said the pressure is more on them when we play, a draw is probably better for us than them. I still think Millwall will drop off, but may be forced to eat my words on that!!

Fwiw that is a frankly horrendous price. Should be nearer 750/1. They would need to win all 5 games. The prices they’d be for those 5 would be approximately: V Ipswich (H) - 2/1 V Bristol City (a) - 7/4 V Derby (H) - 11/8 V Swansea (H) - 11/10 V Hull (a) - 17/10 That’s already 110/1. Even in that scenario Wrexham and Southampton would be 6/4 and 4/5 to finish above Norwich who would be on 73 points. Wrexham would need 10 points from 6 games to beat that and Southampton 11 from 7 games. Then Norwich would have to win the playoffs. They’d be around 11/4 to do so if coming into it off the back of that form. Therefore the true odds are nearer 1000/1 than 200/1. Taking 200s is a terrible, terrible, terrible bet.

| Bookies odds for promotion on 12:25 - Apr 7 with 1328 views | _CliveBaker_ | On the face of it we're favourites with the better GD and 2 games in hand, not to mention our form. We're unbeaten in 8 now, with 5 wins and 3 draws. Could have been more with the Leicester and Stoke robberies, but arguably also rode our luck a little in the 2nd halves against Millwall and Brum. On balance 18 points from those games is probably a fair yield. 2.25 ppg at a time where our rivals Millwall and Boro have got 16 and 10 points respectively. If we all had 5 games left I would still fancy our chances, we've effectively got a couple of additional free hits on the south coast. 1/5 seems tight, but if we're still 2nd at 5pm Saturday then we're cooking. | | | |

millwall have the easiest run-in on paper, but we saw in 2023-24, that pressure does weird things to the top teams (then the top 4, all on way better form than any of us, won 9 of their last 24 games)

Surely we have an 'easier' run in given we have 7 games left to play rather than 5! There are no easy games, especially at this stage of the season but we have a big advantage over the other two in the race. [Post edited 7 Apr 12:53]

The season is three games too short for them. They have five games to make up 6 points on Wrexham, who have a game in hand on them, or ten points on Hull. And there are two other teams above them, too. They sacked Manning a month too late.

Wall and Boro have much more winnable games than us this weekend so would hate for us to be going to Pompey feeling nervy/desperate. I would take a point at scum, but a win there would be monumental. Certainly 4 from the next 6 will see us in a good place

Yeah if we beat Norwich we're properly cooking. I'm not too concerned about Pompey, Charlton, WBA or QPR tbh. We won't win them all, and its a busy schedule, but we've got decent depth and objectively speaking we're better than them. I think we'll take a sufficient amount of points to keep pace with our rivals through that period. Norwich and Boro are massive. Win both and we're laughing, 4 points and we'll take some stopping IMO.

Funnily enough I had one on them being relegated at around 18/1 and took my profit at just the right time when their new man came in. Imagine doing it again on a promotion bet on the same team in the same season.
