I think the issue was he let a couple from Norwich go early doors that were probably worse than some of those he gave cards for. If he'd clamped down early it might not have gone the way it did. I thought he was a bit inconsistent as well, the threshold for what constituted a foul seemed to shift a few times throughout the game. | |

It was a hard game to referee. I felt he stopped the game too much for dubious fouls early on, so it lacked flow. He was right not to get his yellow card out early, but then it descended in to a scrappy card fest, but I agree none of his yellows seemed incorrect. The Budgies were playing matadors to Nunez's angry bull, going down as if they'd been shot when he barely touched them. At least the ref wasn't a homer! |  |

Fairly certain MM never received any consequences for it. Although it didn't help him curry favour with them. I don't think our players need to curry favour with their fans anyway.
