Also means the game in hand is something of a free hit for Portsmouth... 17:02 - Apr 11 with 823 viewspointofblue

As they're out of the relegation zone. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. They've got a huge match next Saturday as well, at home to Leicester. More likely to have at least one eye on that?

Today will have been a huge effort for them. Long old away trip as well. We will make a few changes and have some fresh legs in without the side being weakened and that will play into our hands. It's a very winnable game and 3 points there starts to make our lead look unassailable. Follow it up with a win against Boro and we could in theory be looking at sealing promotion at the Valley a week on Wednesday.

They'll want to get at least level with WBA and Blackburn, they'll be up for it.

I assume Neil, McAteer, Nunez, Clarke and Azon will all come in midweek, which will be changing half of the outfield players. And, as you say, it shouldn't weaken our team at all. It'd be nice if we're mathematically promoted before we go to Southampton.

Looking at the stats, that would have taken a hell of a lot out of them, plus the travelling. Not much time on the training ground either.

We've travelled an hour up the road, had an earlier kick off.

We've also already been to Portsmouth twice this season so we should be acclimatised to the place.

Not sure 'acclimatised' is the right word. Drought predicted for Hampshire on Toosdy, game is 50/50.

With Oxford and Pompey both winning today it means that West Brom and Charlton still aren’t safe so it makes those games a little more daunting.

It's not a free hit though really. It's games like this we need to win to make Southampton away a free hit.

Not a free hit for us, but I think Portsmouth could be thinking of Leicester next weekend and, win, lose or draw, their fate is still in their hands with easier games to come.
