Harsh Question Possibly. 15:41 - Apr 21 with 1039 viewscressi

If we do go up is McKenna the right man to make us competitive and give us a chance to stay there. Or should we be ruthless and twist.
Farke seem to have learnt lessons from the past and made Leeds competive the big question has McKenna learnt from last time or would it be more of the same from last time we were in the Premiership.

Absolutely, I'd stick with KM if we go up

He may have a decision to make though if another club comes calling but I'd absolutely give him a chance so show how they've learnt and developed

More to the point I think Ashton would need extra help as recruitment is key

If we go up, should we sack the manager that has got us 3 promotions in 4 and a half seasons?

I do wonder what really goes on in some people's heads!

In a week that's been riddled with ludicrous hot takes this is comfortably in the top 5 most stupid.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

He will of course have learnt, we should stick with him.

Further to the op, if we invedt heavily upon promotion and we are struggling come nov/dec does there come a time when we may need a change or do you stick with him no matter what?

You literally answered your own question haven't you? We should probably wait to find out? No one wants you spending the rest of your days wondering "what if?"

I think the bipolar fanbase is part of the reason why this season hasn’t felt as ‘fun’ as it should be and definitely made it more of a slog.

Just pure stupidity.

Totally – it's got deeply weird from a discernible section of our supporters at times. A lot of the good stuff that's happened just gets swept away under a tide of negativity and performatively rotten takes. And yes one can say that *while* criticising certain things club/manager/players have done and accepting the season has been far from perfect.

Really? I think the manager and players take 99% of the blame for that. At times, slow boring football and little end result, players under performing and seemingly little tactical nouse. The fans respond to good football, simple really.

This is a fair question to ask and you were given negativity for it, it's genuinely puzzling that on a public forum people don't accept questions like this. You even acknolwedged it was a harsh question!

Farke almost lost his job at Leeds this season before he started playing to Leeds' strengths, he was forced into a system change, and he is now quite flexible with the talented squad at his disposal.
Farke would absolutely fail in the PL with our current squad. So would McKenna, I don't think anyone would survive with our current squad.

I think most people knew Burnley were as good as relegated before they were even promoted from the Championship, but I want to compare our seasons under Scott Parker;
23/24 - McKenna managed 96 points, 92 goals scored, 57 goals conceded, so 35 goal difference.
24/25 - Scott Parker managed 100 points, only 69 goals scored, but only 16 goals conceded, so 53 goal difference.

It isn't surprising to me that we conceded 82 goals, and Burnley have currently only conceded 67, but the comparison shows our biggest failure to me; we only managed to score 36 goals in the Premier League, whilst Burnley have 5 games remaining and have scored 34. Nottingham Forest have only scored 36 goals and have managed 36 points so far, they scored 4 of those against Burnley on Sunday.

Also, on Scott Parker - He promoted Bournemouth, and upon their PL return, he loses their 4th game 9-0 to Liverpool. Bournemouth then sack him, hire Gary O'Neil, and they go on to 15th that year despite almost everyone predicting them for relegation that season. Despite this, they SACK O'Neil in June, and quickly replace him with Andoni Ireola, and is currently fighting for a European placement in his last season for the club.
They have already found his replacement in Marco Rose, who was clearly heavily favoured over Kieran McKenna.

Whilst we are very good at grinding out positive results this season, we haven't played well enough all season. We have had different problems at different times of the season and if we don't get promoted this year, I'm not just looking at recruitment, but at McKenna, because this squad should not be failing to get top 2 at all. It would ultimately come down to his failure to manage this team to promotion, whether people are happy to hear that or not.
I don't think we're surviving the Premier League with our current squad regardless, and I do not believe we have the recruitment team capable enough to help us survive relegation next season, should we get promoted, which we 100% should.

It's definitely a tougher question for me to answer than it was at the start of the 25/26 campaign.

We're close to 3 promotions in 4.5 seasons. After twenty years of nightmare.

It is a disgrace that people want to talk about parting with KM like this.

Even if it was a fair footballing question (which it is not!!!) Ipswich Town is not a sacking club and has a history of being loyal. We could finish 15th this season and I wouldn't want KM gone.

Show some respect!

When he does go, we are going to miss him.

The risk of going down again with bad recruitment makes this 100% a valid question.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

You need to stop using our past as an excuse to dismiss current disappointmnet because not only does it not make any sense, but it also disrespects our current high standards for future success.
We are also a completely different team compared to our double promotion. We are basing judgement on the team we have formed since the start of the 24/25 season.

I have no complaints admitting we will miss him.
