| Jack Clarke HAS to play 08:15 - Apr 23 with 1895 views | Chris_ITFC | If we get another pressure penalty, I can’t watch another Jaden one. (Or, frankly, watch another 60 of Jaden getting bullied. We’ve developed none of the physicality in attack that we’ll need again in the Prem next season.) | |

Anis has played on the left quite a lot though and it gets him and Nunez in the team But yeah you're probably right. Was just an idea

neither have the high ceiling of clarke or jaden, neither are playing as well right now either, so it's not worth considering (at the moment at least)

You'd prefer to have Nunez and Mehmeti in the team than either of our top scorers? They certainly could play in the way you're suggestion, I just can't see it happening. SB

I'm finding Jaden quite frustrating since he came back from injury because he can be quite a peripheral figure in games and when he's not scoring you do wonder if it's worth getting someone there who will be more involved on build up JC is more of that ilk but he is frustrating in another sense of needing multiple touches every time he receives it and slows down moves. However, I also concede that's par for the course with flair players. If they were extremely influential during general play, defensively strong and then also scored and assisted every game they'd be playing for Real or Bayern. And we do need the goal threat. A silly idea, I guess we need Mehmeti and Nunez for the 10 role anyway.

| Jack Clarke HAS to play on 11:58 - Apr 23 with 189 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | Defenders are much more scared of Philogene. Clarke has been better off the bench (especially at home). Jayden also can get his foot in and nick the ball in our own half. Not sure why you’re talking like Clarke is strong on the ball either to be honest. I like JC but the idea that Philogene was poor last night is baffling. Literally unlocked the space for Furlong. The penalty was ridiculously casual but would have looked as good as the Norwich one if he just put put it in the right hand corner. Who really cares, it went in! [Post edited 23 Apr 11:59]

| Jack Clarke HAS to play on 08:40 - Apr 23 by StokieBlue | Absolutely agree he's had a big part to play this season and definitely had a purple patch earlier in the season. At the moment though, as you've pointed out as well, he's far from those levels. SB |
Would also say that the Kenyan chap (forget his name) who was RB for them last night would be worth a look at in the summer if we're in the Champ. Was really impressed. Jaden did him a couple of times but thought he more than held his own and was just as quick as JP.

Do you not think that defenders have now sussed that he likes to cut in and shoot with his right foot? They double and even treble mark him now denying him space , and he doesnt seem to have an answer for that am...

| Jack Clarke HAS to play on 12:17 - Apr 23 with 126 views | Vic | I too thought Jaen did alright last night. Their defence didn't know if he was going left or right and I seem to remember that he won us a few freekicks on the left too. His pen? I do think he got lucky there - the keeper will be very disappointed. Blimey, I used to play in goal a bit and would have gutted to have let that in! I think Jaden and Jack are pretty much on a par - same position, but just a bit different. Jack has got a lot stronger on the ball this season; that said, he still has room to improve his final ball. And we won;t even mention the awful dive. My word, that was poor! | |

He has the ability to go both ways which is what makes him so hard to defend against. I do think Davis helps create the space for whoever is playing in that position, Johnson is solid enough but he doesn't occupy the opposition like Leif does with those overlapping runs. Honking penalty yesterday though

I think defenders have known that for a while, it’s just he’s had a bit more space at home in first half’s when we have got on top of teams, when they sit deeper or in an away game scrap it doesn’t suit as much with so many behind the ball. When we did get an overload last night second half, he had an opportunity for a trade mark finish but unfortunately hit it too centrally. He’s like the annoying player at school that everyone knew was the best on the pitch but can be frustrating to watch sometimes and doing one step over too much or whatever and losing it or getting shrugged off the ball. That will happen from time to time but he’s our most talented player and it’s not particularly close. Sometimes you need an individual like that and even have to put up with a couple of traits that might annoy some fans but it’s actually these traits that make him a special talent on an individual level. Hell of a strike on him and a top player on the transition. [Post edited 23 Apr 12:28]

| Jack Clarke HAS to play on 08:42 - Apr 23 by TRUE_BLUE123 | If we go up please please please can we sign some athletic players. Ashton said that would be our recruitment strategy and that just isn't the case. Our squad is so lacking in pace in power. As for Jaden I thought he had an awful start to the game but he did grow in to it. He is quite a tough player to work out because what he does well, he does really well but I do just feel like his frame could hold him back in the long term. |
I think even putting aside the Reform stuff Ashton has some questions to answer for his performance in the role over the last two years. I personally don't feel our squad is in a better position to compete in the prem now than it was when we went up two years ago. You could argue we have more depth (which I would agree with), and therefore more resources could go into improving the starting 11 should we get promoted, but I think at present our strongest team is quite similar to where we were at the end of 23/24 in terms of the lack of physicality.
