| Team selection vs WBA 08:51 - Apr 23 with 1248 views | Sugito | So, what do we do now: they have one more day to recover plus have back to back home games. Feel like against their 4-4-2 we would need either Burns or Johnson on the right wing especially since McAteer has started the last two games. But will Burns be fit and if we use Johnson there, who will play left back since Davis seems to be a big question mark. Greaves as left back and Kipre in central defence didn't work against Portsmouth so don't think we'll see that combination again. Otherwise we'll probably rotate Clarke for Philogene, Nunez for Mehmeti, Hirst for Azon and Neil for Taylor. Thoughts? | | | | |
| Team selection vs WBA on 08:54 - Apr 23 with 1211 views | BlueNomad | If he is fit Taylor has to start. McAteer is very fit and playing with rising confidence. Not sure about Mehmeti / Nunez, neither of them are on fire. | | | |
| Team selection vs WBA on 08:56 - Apr 23 with 1182 views | FlittonBlue | Suspect we will have minimal changes for the WBA game with a view that get 3 points there we can make wholesale changes for the Saints game which will then be a free hit...will upset plenty but WLW is the optimal outcome and our line up is likely to reflect this | | | |
| Team selection vs WBA on 08:57 - Apr 23 with 1165 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Take Taylor out and we will struggle. He is the only midfield we have who can progress the ball and cover the middle of the pitch. | |

| Team selection vs WBA on 08:59 - Apr 23 with 1156 views | SomethingBlue | Have to go as strong as possible but it'll be all about recovery and who is nursing what. You'd assume we see Clarke, Hirst and Nunez all in there. Then, as you mention, it depends who's good to go again. Assuming Leif isn't ready I'd probably want to keep Johnson at left back if we can. It's a blow Burns' recovery has dragged on, we've hardly flogged McAteer this season so hopefully he's got it in him to do another hour at least. | |

Agree, just think we'd be better off against a 4-4-2 with more of a wing-back type of player playing RW, but it's true we haven't worn McAteer out during the season and he has been good during the last few games.

I reckon the team on Saturday will be as follows: Walton Furlong O’Shea Greaves Johnson (Lief is still injured I gather) Azor Taylor (a must) Nunez McCateer Hirst and Clarke (Jaden looked tired at Charlton and Jack looked lively when he came on)

Completely agree with you. Beat WBA and Saints & Boro can't catch us unless we lose very heavily to the Saints.

Walton Furlong Oshea Greaves Johnson Taylor Matusiwa Mcateer Nunez Clarke Hirst Assuming Davis is not fit which sounds like he won't be. Neil, Philogene, Azon, Mehmeti etc to come off the bench from 65 mins onwards. [Post edited 23 Apr 9:47]

Yep, I think that's the starting XI for sure.

Not sure why you think WLW is optimal. For me I'd rather have WWW

Whatever the score against WBA the Southampton is absolutely not a free hit.

yeah. If we are going to lose one, I'd rather it was the last one, when we were already confirmed up. WWW WWD WDW WWL all preferable to WLW

| Team selection vs WBA on 10:17 - Apr 23 with 645 views | _CliveBaker_ | At this stage I think we have to just ask for 1 more and try to get a big first 45 and take it from there. If we win on Saturday we've taken a massive step towards our goal, and while nothing is guaranteed on the final day it would mean it takes all the pressure off the Southampton game where we can rotate a bit, play with some freedom, and go there swinging at them. It would probably dampen their enthusiasm for that one too and they might well fancy seeing the back of us out of the playoffs (albeit they've not fared too well against Millwall this season). I'd probably go unchanged across the back and midfield, keep that continuity, and just bring Clarke and Hirst in for some freshness for Philogene and Azon. I really rate West Brom at the moment, they're a lot better than their league position suggests and its not a ground we seem to fare well at. They're dangerous down their right, so keeping Johnson at left back makes sense to me. One big effort, get out of there with the W by hook or by crook and take it from there. | | | |

Very impressed with West Brom when I've seen them recently.

| Team selection vs WBA on 10:30 - Apr 23 with 537 views | jas0999 | Biggest game of season. Win this and we are in really good shape. I’m afraid it’s time to give up on Azon. 5 goals this season is a rubbish return amd that miss last night. Can’t see him being back next year. | | | |

Yeah they're fooking dangerous, and they'll play with some freedom. I don't think there are many tougher fixtures than the next 2, so hopefully we can find a win from somewhere. Price, Maja, Dike. They've got some dangerous attacking players. I said it to a friend a few months back, I think we've been shown too much respect at times. I'm convinced the best way to get a result against us is to get at us. Obviously didn't work brilliantly for Swansea but I don't think you're any less likely to get anything from the game than parking the bus. If I were WBA in the form they're in, at home, and safe from relegation I'd have a right pop at us on Saturday.
