What are your expectations for tomorrow? 06:24 - Apr 27 with 1878 viewsBlue_Heath

For me, turn up, do a professional job and come away with something.

Obs a win would be great but like WBA would be very happy with a point.

Just glad this isn't a MUST win.

I'm someone who has been quite disappointed with the performances rather than the results.
I was far more impressed with our performance against West Brom than I was against Charlton, WBA are an in form team and it was never going to be easy to score against them, especially with their recent clean sheet streak, but the chances we had, we should have done much better with. Defensively, I don't have many complaints considering WBA are now showing the quality they should have shown all season, and we managed to prevent them from scoring, so happy days.

My prediction after the Charlton game was us losing to West Brom, but winning against Southampton and QPR, and Millwall beating Leicester but drawing to Oxford on the final day.

I still stand by us beating Southampton, I don't have a strong logical reason behind why I think we will beat them; all I have is our unpredictability away from home, and the reason I believed we'd beat Norwich, is because of the way we set ourselves up against Coventry earlier in the season. If we can perform as well as we did in both of those games, then we will 100% win this game, and it will make the QPR game meaningless.

I genuinely don't think we will lose, but I will not take my expectations too seriously, we have 2 chances to win just one game for promotion anyway.

I think something magic will happen, maybe a 4-3 town win in the 95th minute. Azon over head kick, top bin.

I saw somewhere on this site that a draw has no bearing on the race to 2nd. On the contrary, a draw takes one of our main rivals out of the race. For Saints to stay in the race, they need to win both their games and hope results go their way on the final day. As such, I see a late winner for Town from the bench as Saints push for a winner. 1-2 Town. COYB

I'm just hoping we put in a really good performance here. I think the terrifying Soton team that was walloping everyone has tired out over the last few weeks.

Just scraped past Swansea in the last minute, conceded twice and drew with a Bristol City team with nothing to play for and then Saturday would have taken it out of them again. No Flynn Downes.

We can absolutely win this game with a pragmatic Norwich (A) type performance.

Saints must be mentally spent after their fun in the FA Cup and recent league run.

They have an outside chance of direct promotion but I think they'd be better off preparing for the play-offs... but that's probably wishful thinking on my part.

If we can weather an early storm, I think they're there for the taking but both sides will probably settle for a draw, so that's what I'm going for.

Next Saturday will be huuuuge (and brilliant).

Saints have to win to stay in with a shot of automatics, so they should be right up for it. I just hope we get what we deserve - I.e. if we play well we come away with something from the game and don’t suffer from crap finishing or a dodgy refereeing decision/deflection.

A scrappy poor game and we win 1-0

Both teams tired, we definitely won't want to do anything physically that jeopardises Saturday ... it could of course be an all-timer and I can't wait, but this morning I'm leaning towards low-paced end of season draw.

Normal circumstances don't apply and a a Point is of little more use than a loss. A point tomorrow wouldn't be a good result

I'd rather see us go for the win and end up losing 3-0 than settle for a 0-0 or 1-1. 3-0 lose or 0-0 draw won't alter the fact that we'd need to beat QPR on Sunday. A win however would see us over the line.

Settling for a draw makes absolutely no sense whatsoever

Defend well, keep a clean sheet and there's a good chance we'll come away with the three points needed to effectively get over the line.

I don’t like the narrative we can’t go there and put in a really good performance and take all 3. A mirror of Norwich away, a different way to skin the cat, but 3 points should always be our objective.

I'm reasonably optimistic. Southampton have to go for it as they must win, I suspect this will give us more space as it did against Coventry. We can keep it tight and will get chances so hopefully we can take our chances which will surely come.

Southampton are really, really good. Had they had this manager the whole season, they'd be comfortably promoted.

Also not sure why people are saying they have nothing to play for? If they win their last two, they could be promoted?

Don't see the Cup game having any real impact tbh. Hard work, but it was only 90 mins and they have depth too.

I expect us to lose and it go to the final game. Which is fine.

Just hope we have a go. Energy, press, less of the kamikazi knock about at the back. Draw is meaningless, we'd still have to beat qpr.

Yes I think the factor of Saints being up for it, and potentially being ready to throw everything at us, egged on by their faithful, is an important one.

If we can get an early goal, it might be a humdinger of a game. If they go in front, I just hope we can keep our heads and not lose them like against Pompey.

Trying to stay objective and rational, we have a really effective defence, our keeper is in really good form, and there's no reason to assume the worst. However, my many years following this club as we rub up against that automatic promotion line so frequently have sadly caused an excess of cynicism. I shall try to dispel it!

We need a win from the last two games. A draw is as bad as a defeat. Might as well go for it.

A draw is not as bad as a defeat at all. It would mean if Millwall and Middlesborough draw their final game, we too would only need a draw.

It's not likely, but not worth throwing away.

Unlike Saturday I'm not sure a point will be of much value to either. Yes it would rule Saints out of the final day and keep Millwall honest on needing a win rather than a draw, but I think we have to work on the assumption we need 83 points and therefore a draw doesn't help us with that.

Go there swinging, feel our way into the game and have a proper go at them 2nd half.

Always want the win, and that may well happen I hope - but if it’s a draw, it’s a point gained rather than two dropped. They are an in form quality team (another one so quickly!) so let’s be realistic, but ambitious of course.
