| Egeli 12:38 - May 4 with 1338 views | bsw72 | A lot of what is written in this article could be applied to Egeli under KM, but add the extra factor of moving countries. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/fo | | | | |
| Egeli on 12:42 - May 4 with 1250 views | pointofblue | The bit about Moyes wanting to mould the player rather than throwing him into a sink or swim situation stands out. I imagine that was the plan here for Egeli until circumstances dictated otherwise. | |

| Egeli on 12:47 - May 4 with 1167 views | Axeldalai_lama | It's difficult, a lot of it's about timing. When a player becomes available with so much potential the only way to attempt to realise it is to buy them then, not once they're absolutely proven. It's about nurturing too, and from the sound of that Moyes is starting to stick the boot in a little, which is something I've never heard McKenna do with old pro's let alone teenagers just getting settled. I guess part of it is also that managers don't necessarily have a full say in transfers now, especially potential based ones. So Moyes might see the huge money spent and wonder what he could have done with that on a couple of established players. Those are the gambles I guess. Bournemouth and Brighton seem perfect at it, maybe because they just seem to stick the players in and not have 2 or 3 equals as back up to put in or mess about the team with. | | | |
| Egeli on 12:50 - May 4 with 1112 views | Illinoisblue | Hopefully either with us or with a solid loan season it will work out for him and his career will flourish. But the question remains; what is his position? Not a striker, not really a 10, not speedy enough to play right wing. | |

You don't recall Darren Currie. He is skilful enough that where he is best will become apparent in time. It is clear that at the moment he is considered a right sided attacking player. I wonder if he will become a 10 in time.

| Egeli on 13:14 - May 4 with 835 views | Ftnfwest | He was purchased with the long term in mind and while we could still afford it ahead of potentially not going back up. Clearly a player there and one would assume could be one of those who would fit the prem better than the champ, which as others have said is incredibly demanding, not least for foreign players coming in. I’d expect him to be around until January before a loan but let’s see who else gets brought in. | | | |

| Egeli on 13:16 - May 4 with 808 views | _CliveBaker_ | I think a big part of the challenge with Egeli in terms of perception is the price tag, unsurprisingly. Its a huge amount of money for a club like ours to pay for anyone and that's really been over his head all season. Had he cost £4m people would be saying its a sensible punt on a young investment for the future. OK breakthrough season and chipped in with some important contributions. The fact is he wasn't £4m, it was £18m. That's a lot more than a punt, its an investment that simply has to work. I'm really curious what next season and beyond looks like for him, not least in terms of his ultimate position. I don't see him ever being that right sided player in a McKenna system, he's a very different profile to Burns or McAteer. Maybe a 9 in time, if he can bulk up a bit. I've been really underwhelmed by him for the most part, but he's certainly got age on his side. It'll be interesting to see how he develops and how we manage that in the short and medium term. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Egeli on 13:30 - May 4 with 692 views | BlueandTruesince82 | He needs time, hes only young, the noise around him needs to quieten down a bit as he lerns his trade. Moved countries ro a much faster more aggressive league, its a lot. Let him settle and see | |

I really don't get this using of fees to bash players. People don't seem to appreciate that the top transfers are well in excess of £100m now too. It isn't uncommon for Premier League sides to spend 10s of millions on individual players. A lot of the fees on him and McAteer are for potential. And the argument we could have spent the money better on a striker is spurious. It was never an either or. We failed to get the striker(s) in for different reasons than that we couldn't afford one.

He's an Ödegaard-style player, I can see him ending up at Arsenal in a few years...
