More Vladimir and Estragon for me, but even then not also quite: I missed rain falling and ... a tree, I guess. Also, the bleakness of Beckett. But Cajuste and Egeli are more passive than Rose/Guild. Interesting they were seated together on the open top bus.

Given that Norwegian and Swedish are very similar languages and often mutually intelligible, maybe it is a bit of home comfort for Egeli? Just a guess.

The Tom Stoppard play Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is also a good read. I've never watched a performance, sadly. [Post edited 4 May 18:48]

Krapp's Last Tape but with Lambert listening to the recordings of Keane, Jewell, Mick, Hurst.....

Indeed. But I had hoped there might be more to Shakespeare allusions than language commonalities. Certainly Cajuste and Egeli have language affinities, not least English.

Perhaps there will be when we play our first Champions League game against Elsinore North End. It certainly won't be much ado about nothing.

Measure for measure Lambert has to be our worst ever manager. A real Fool. With him we reached rock Bottom and he didn’t give a Puck.

I would say the passive background role they have had during celebrations (and maybe on the pitch for the final couple of months). The Nordic aspect was what made me think it was worthwhile sharing, and the #itfc timeline on Twitter don’t deserve it.

Hamlet can be McAteer and Szmodics is Claudius.

The players stand in front of the Barclay and looking up at the crowd one of them utters "What are these, So withered, and so wild in their attire, That look not like th’ inhabitants o’ th’ Earth And yet are on ’t?"

Blue Action: O that we now had here But one ten thousand of those men in Ipswich That do no work to-day! McKenna: What's he that wishes so? My cousin, Blue Action? No, my fair cousin; If we are mark'd to die, we are enough To do our club loss; and if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of honour. God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more. By Jove, I am not covetous for gold, Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost; It yearns me not if men my alice bands, ginormous shorts and gloves wear; Such outward things dwell not in my desires. But if it be a sin to covet honour, I am the most offending soul alive. No, faith, my bruv, wish not a man from Ipswich. God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour As one man more methinks would share from me For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more! Rather proclaim it, Blue Action, through my host, That he which hath no stomach to this fight, Let him depart; his season ticket shall be revoked, And crowns for convoy put into his purse; We would not die in that man's company That fears his fellowship to die with us. This day is call'd the feast of promotion. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd, And rouse him at the name of promotion. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast the Nodgers, And say "another season in the Premier League." Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say "These wounds I had on Escape To Victory." Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words— McKenna the King, O'Shea and Walton, Hirst and Philogene, Jack Clarke and Matusiwa— Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And promotion promotion shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be rememberèd— We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in Ipswich now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon promotion day. They "were sent for. That much is certain". There was an art to the building up of suspense, but their season came to a solemn end. (with apologies to Stoppard)

i've seen Town play in Elsinore (Helsingör). Mostly I remember nice weather, and I think a not-very-good Italian goalkeeper, who I guess was on trial.
