im not sure if its becaues i know that were not going to have an easy time of it, or whether im just a miserable sod.

Your feelings are not wrong. They are yours.

You are probably worried that things will not be easy, and if they are as difficult as last time ITFC were in the PL, then it will be another season of poor results being in the majority. The jump to the PL is massive, unfortunately.

Hopefully we can stay up, then build on that the season after next. That's as cheerful as I can get, sorry.

I'm hopeful, and also a bit "meh" - but that is not "right" or "wrong". You seem less hopeful than me is all, perhaps.

Or it might be also your endocrine system not helping, but that's a whole other story.

Not subdued at all but of course massively different from 2 years ago. I went into this season expecting to be happy with what i would call a 'strong play off finish' (ie. 3rd or 4th but being able to secure that from some distance out.) We did have a great squad but as with all Mckenna squads heavily leaning towards attack rather than defence, and as mentioned before, Leicester (criticised for other financial reasons and under performance) and southampton (will still) don't seem to have been labelled as having fantastic squads in the same way despite having a 10-15 year financial head start on us.
2024 was a very special group of players as well and not something we'll see again for a long time i expect.

I'm much more nervous this time. Last time was a bit of a free hit, we weren't expected to succeed and had a torrid time. The fans in general, and owners understood we got there ahead of schedule, but now we really need to perform to keep our backers onside and interested. It's all about profits for them afterall.

I think it is just the end of the season comes with a bit of a sudden end. Been getting increasingly more engaged over recent weeks, the suddenly it is over.

Norwich away gives me big hope for next year, a solid win with a low possession percentage, we will need similar many times. Still feels a bit empty right now though.

Roll on August 22nd.

I really hated the 2024/25 season, so I'm not full of excitement either. I hope we genuinely learn from the mistakes we made. It's not all about buying good young players that we can sell at a higher rate in a few seasons, we need a quality spine that will keep us up. Need to work out how Sunderland and lesser extent Leeds have survived (thrived in Sunderland's case). What the new scouting will bring is anyone's guess but staff recruitment has been pretty good so I'll be optimistic. I'm still not sure how player recruitment really works if I'm honest, and whether KM likes that process.

I've often been wowed by the players we've signed but they've not been amazing successes. See Szmodics. I don't think I've been more excited by a player joining us in a long time so I'm an exceptionally poor judge. But this summer is all about recruitment. Tell me when we've signed "a winner" please?

I woke up this morning feeling the same, a few others in the office have said the same

Edit: Just to clarify, I think I'm feeling this because I now have a football sized hole to fill. it's nothing to do with the actual promotion. There's been a game to go to or watch on TV every few days for the past month or so. Plus 3 days of drinking hasn't helped

The promotion was amazing.

I think we just all know exactly the scale of the challenge next season.

Amazing achievement but if we are to give staying up a good crack, a huge amount needs to change. Not a dig, just reality.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

I think I'm on a bit of a comedown from too much euphoria over the weekend.
I feel very down today, but it's nothing to do with our prospects for next season. Looking forward to that challenge again.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

You will all perk up on Friday when you realise we don't have to go to Hull and back.

I was wondering if for some (not you) a sense of entitlement is why they are not enjoying the moment as much as they might? I certainly sensed it when the moaning and criticism poured in from the cadre after a loss, draw or narrow win.

Back to your point, Sunderland thrived then faded badly as the got found out. Unless they make good additions, which they may well, I think they might struggle next year. Leeds have a more solid base and should be ok.

What we will need is a midfield, which we didn't have last time. A couple of forwards too. We need some people in there with stamina in that 20 mins Ito a game we were pretty much finished last time. A waste of a loan like Phillips and Cajuste is not an option. We need stronger and thats where Sunderland really got it right.

I’m not sure how recruitment works either. It’s certainly not Cook or Mick’s contacts and whatever recruitment team we had two years ago, it’s clearly changed and been added to. I still suspect McKenna says what he wants, the team find them and KM says yes or no. I that is right, I cannot see a better way of doing it.

The fact of the matter is we will have one of the smallest budgets in the EPL. A core of full on Premier League players will be required. Add in a bit of talent and the odd prospect and that might be the right balance. Just guessing for discussion. The recruitment last time wasn't all bad. Some good uns some disappointments. I too thought SS would be a good signing and thought Delap looked a clumsy lump in pre season. That lasted well.

Let me know when we've signed a winner too - im not sure id recognise one!

Ashton Out would put a spring in your step, plus McKenna would more likely stay. His disappearance yesterday when Ashton was interviewed spoke volumes.

When Ashton was being interviewed at the top of the bus, McKenna and Dara were both being interviewed by others in front of the bus, going back up when they were done, so I'm not sure what volumes they were supposedly speaking?
