Blimey RIP Gary. I was at Suffolk schools football trials with him as a teenager.

Really sad news

Played against him when we were both 14/15. He took me out off the ball with an elbow to the face.

Laughed about it in fire and ice

Good guy RIP

Echo this.

I was in the Sudbury kids teams while he was playing for AFC Sudbury. So we would often meet him and the adult team in passing. I knew who he was because of the ITFC link and he and a team mate took our training a few times.

Lovely bloke - RIP Gary.

Played with him for Whitton Utd. Was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch every week.

Good humble kid who just wanted to be better.

Gary and the tweeter Lee were both guys in my championship manager starting squad for Ipswich alongside a few other youth players I would either try to nurture or jettison…time and life is a cruel mistress..very sad.

Great guy & if it wasn't for injuries could've had a decent career at Town. Gone way to soon.

He used to be great for me on Championship Manager. I would have loved to have seen him play more for Town.

Sounds like he was a real gent. Thoughts to the family and friends.

Spent longer the club than I thought he did. He had a bit of a nightmare with injuries, including an especially long term one from memory (knee I think?)

I used to watch the youth team a lot back then. Practice pitch on a Saturday morning with the Southern Junior Floodlit cup etc on the main pitch and remember him very well. Had high hopes for him. Had a great deal of presence about him.

RIP Fellow Blue x

I had the pleasure of playing against Gary Thompson a couple of times. At youth level he was a stand out player, and was watched by a number of coaches on a regular basis. He was a fantastic player who I greatly admired. RIP Gary.
