| Oh, Nigel! on 20:46 - May 14 by redrickstuhaart | The problem is very much that the donor could and probably does have political intentions, the "gift" is an extraordinary one raising a very obvious suspicion of seeking influence, and it was then not declared when it clearly should have been. |
But has he payed his council tax?

| Oh, Nigel! on 20:56 - May 14 by DanTheMan | I enjoy his defence of "I cannot be bought by anyone" whilst being on a platform where you can pay to make him say things. |
"Cannot be bought by anyone." "The £5m was a reward for campaigning for Brexit." That sounds an awful lot like you receiving the £5m depended heavily on you carrying through a particular course of conduct.

If he has said that, its clearly a political gift and not personal. He has basically admitted wrongdoing. Now, will the committee have the balls to deal with it properly. Any established figure with a £5m undisclosed political gift would be in massive trouble.

He's not very bright is he? Going on about it being unconditional. The rules don't talk about whether its conditional. "both the possible motive of the giver and the use to which the gift is to be put should be considered", adding "if there is any doubt, the benefit should be registered". So a political gift from a political donor. As payment for political activity. Clearly disclosable. Clearly hidden. And clearly no remorse or contrition. Book should be thrown.

Hmm. Liar points and shouts, "Liar!" It's a tough one that's for sure.

I think he's got a plan here, but I can't work out what. 1) Claim the payments were for the security he needs 2) Point at an accredited member of the press doing their job (with no allegations of legal wrongdoing) and say "Look! This is why I need security!" 3) State you cannot be bought. 4) Pivot, and claim that the £5m was a 'reward' for campaigning for Brexit. This all feels very calculated, either to distract from something else, or with another aim in mind. EDIT - Unless, of course, he's trying to get himself recalled so he can play the 'look, the establishment are scared of us, and want to silence me' card. [Post edited 15 May 10:14]

Or he's made enough money now thank you very much. He's realised he's now flying a little too close to the sun with his political career and danger exists of being elected to a position where people will expect him to do some work - so he needs an exit strategy? [Post edited 15 May 13:41]

| Oh, Nigel! on 21:11 - May 14 by Swansea_Blue | He’s left that. I don’t think the vile bigotry he was happy to endorse was good for his image He’s got to be stopped. He’s a Poundland Trump who’s already cost us a ridiculous amount socially and economically and he’ll keep screwing us over for as long as the grift pays. |
He's got to be stopped, but by whom? It's a really sorry state of affairs at the moment without a real leader amongst any of the parties - meanwhile the UK's inteligensia enthusiastically clap everything this quasi-fascist does. We're stating down he barell of a rather scary future for anyone who is an ethnic minority, disabled, trans, gay, etc.
