| Ogbene on 16:49 - May 16 by burnbudgiesburn | That makes little sense really. If we needed someone 'now' (as in, the start of the season) why was an unfit Burns (who lets face it came back quicker than a lot of people expected) a better option at the time than Ogbene? McKenna clearly made the choice that he thought we were better off with a chance of Burns playing 1/4 of the back end of the season than having Ogbene right there and then. So, I actually agree with your second paragraph but still think Kieran was being diplomatic with his reasoning rather than saying I prefer someone who is currently crocked over you. |
Why does it make no sense? How could we loan out Burns last August, when he was out as long term injured, 5 months away from playing. Loaning out Ogbene, who was just back from a long-term injury, was an option whereas we couldn't do anything with Burns. You seemed to be asking why we held onto Burns but not Ogbene, and therefore KmK's 'reason' was implausible. It was not an option to loan out Burns at that time - he was tied to us during recovery and recuperation until the New Year. Whereas it was an option to send Ogbene out, as KmK didn't feel he was recovered enough to make a difference for us (and therefore we brought in replacements who were expected to be 100% ready)

| Ogbene on 16:57 - May 16 by AVJones | No, I disagree. It made sense to deregister Burns till Xmas. He couldn’t play. And keep Ogbene. Who was fit, and had every change of being needed. McAteer and SWE were both new. With Ogbene, more time to gradually bed them in. Then see at Xmas which three of those four to keep, and which one to send out on loan, if any. We didn’t. McKenna obviously didn’t rate Ogbene. |
KmK gave his reasons, which the post I replied to said were likely to be 'diplomatic' reasons. I was saying they are plausible, given the situation. Had we kept Ogbene, and deregistered Burns, there was a possibility that there would be no squad place for Burns in January to add him back in if we couldn't offload Ogbene, McAteer or SWE in that window. That then makes KmK's 'reasons' fit. No way to know for sure, but it's a plausible scenario that fits the facts.

This is where i'm at. Ultimately we made the choice to send a fit (if not 100% match fit) Ogbene out on loan and keep an unavailable Burns instead.

| Ogbene on 12:46 - May 16 by StokieBlue | I don't really see it. He couldn't even make the Sheffield United squad when fit could he? Any actual evidence that he can do anything in the PL? I don't think KM has said he thinks he can help us in the PL has he? SB |
They had 5 loan players, had to leave one or two out. I guess he was the unlucky one. I don't think KM has said he can't help us in the PL either, in fact he's told him " I want you to be in the best possible shape come pre-season ". Time will tell I guess. The guy deserves some good luck at least.

| Ogbene on 16:45 - May 16 by WolfieAtTheBack | Can't believe you have been down voted for saying we need quality players signing. There are going to be some very disgruntled fans next season when getting a 5-0 slapping every week whilst trying to shoehorn in Ogebene into the squad when he couldn't even get a game for Blades. |
It would seem some people would like to see us stick with the squad we have an add just one or two players. The fact some on here want us to sign Azon is well …

If we don't sign a new team a la Sunderland style (as per the excellent list written by another poster) we will just go down by Christmas, there i have said ha

McKenna sending a player out on loan who was fit and playing matches for us also “fits the facts” that McKenna had a look and didn’t rate him! I guess we disagree !

| Ogbene on 14:06 - May 16 by jas0999 | The sad reality is we will need to sign quite a few PL quality players. To do that we will need to offload players - hence why CC has sadly departed the club. Ogbene wasn’t considered good enough to even be on the bench at a championship club. Sixth in the pecking order behind five other loanees. I simply can’t see how he will be part of our PL squad. We will look to recruit better I’d have thought |
Wait - Sheff U had 6 right wingers on loan?

Does his 30 Premier League appearances with 7 goal contributions for a team that only scored fewer than 1.5 goals per game count? That contribution that caused us to sign him in the first place. I liked what I saw of him for us before he got injured. If he is fit, I would be very happy with him. The main concern, though, is that both he and Burns have had serious injuries. Are we confident we wouldn't end up with both breaking down long term (as mush as any team ever can be)?

| Ogbene on 14:28 - May 16 by SuffolkPunchFC | "...Ogbene struggled to make an impact on loan..." That's disingenuous at best. He started in every game but 1 (and came on in that game off the bench) as soon as he could after the loan signing (he couldn't play in the first, as it was against us). He did very well for them in most of the games, being amongst the higher rated players in many of those games. Then he was injured during the international break (coming off for the RoI when he was outstanding), resulting in 3 months out injured. By the time he was back, Wilder had adjusted the system a bit and Andre Brooks had established himself on that side. For me the main concern is his injury record. [Post edited 16 May 15:10]

Wasn't Ogbene also playing as a wingback before his injury for Utd

He was - and that is the change of system I mentioned, so he didn’t have that role to drop into when he recovered from the injury.

Indeed Also a vastly different engine needed for that role, which he did appear to be doing rather well in however based on his stats at the time as you say Who knows, end of the day we did buy him when we got promoted for the prem
