Definitely falls into the national treasure category.
Still one of the most moving clips on the internet.
Clip included in this interview he gave a few years ago, a bit more background into why his teacher was so important in his life, and a nice insight into how his footballing career took off...

He seems like a lovely bloke and he has to put up with so much horrible abuse online, but deals with it all with a grace that I don’t I’d be able to find.

That was a brilliant watch. Thank you for posting it here.

I’d not seen that before. It’s a beautiful interview.
I don’t want to derail the thread, so I’m not looking for replies to this. It breaks my heart that we have mainstream politicians in Restore and some members of Reform and an increasing number of people in the UK who say people like Ian Wright cannot be English because they’re not ethnically pure (white). How anyone could watch this interview and hold that view at the same time is beyond me.

I know you're not looking for replies, but anyway...
He obviously had a terrible childhood, with what sounds like a father and stepfather from hell. God knows how he didn't go completely off the rails. I know he credits Mr Pigden for his guidance and showing faith in him, however he should give himself an enormous amount of credit.
The tribute to David Rocastle is straight from the heart. I remember being hugely shocked when he passed away.

It shows what’s possible with a bit of support and guidance doesn’t it. It’s a very touching story.
