How much does he really want this? Haven't followed him lately, but he's usually on the bench and done b#gger all for the last few years.
Why go down that route again like Phillips where we've got a player who's reached his peak, got his deal and is just trying to spin it out for as long as possible.
I can just remember the "gratitude" when we managed to get Phillips. For some, it was unbelievable we could get a player of his calibre to come to us. And some of those still feel it was worth it and it was only his fitness and that sending off against Leicester that foiled him. He really was useless for us, but maybe great for the CV.
I know we need better quality, but we also need players with ambition and character As well as being able to manage 38 games a season. |
Assuming Phillips was in a paltry £50k a week, he cost us £2.6m for what?

He’s had a lot of injury issues? Great. Just what we need - apart from a sub-let of Ipswich Hospital to cater for the suggestions on here.
He is on £7.8m a year, made 54 appearances in 3 years banging in 5 goals. On the few occasions he’s played and I’ve noticed him for United, he has looked slow and disinterested.
While I’m sure he would view us as the pinnacle of his career, I am hoping we can do better than that. For me, I am not convinced he’s not another Phillips. |
What is the point of buying crocked player?
