…is very very funny
Apparently he bought 108 loo rolls 2 hours before Sturgeon warned the country not to panic buy loo rolls.
Where’s DarthKoont when you need him?

Park it at your girlfriend's?

Wasn't it parked at Murrell's mum's house ?

Sturgeon isn't quite a run of the mill politician, great communicator yes but surprisingly unskilled in other areas. For example, she doesn't have a driving licence and said last year that she planned to take some of her time out of politics learning to drive. I wonder if this is an indication of how her outlook on life and it's impact on her politics had a resonance with the third of adult Scottish women who do not hold a full driving licence ?

If you watch her interview with Laura Kuenssberg, rather than read cold words on a page/screen, you might feel a little differently. She came across as genuine - traumatised even - and was close to tears. I felt really sorry for her. If she's not telling the truth she should take up a new career in acting.

I’ve seen the interview now. Do I think she was nabbing the funds? From that and a two year police investigation no. There’s no evidence of that and the interview gave no hint of it, not that her lawyer standing nearby (see Guardian article) would have allowed it.

However, even if you think the best of her as many people will, did she turn a blind eye? Was she just gullible and stupid? How could she not notice the convoy of boodles rolling up in and out of the house? Did she ever ask? Should she have gone to Specsavers? While only Sturgeon has the answer to that, it stretches credibility to absurd lengths.

Ultimately, the plain fact is her husband stole a reported £400k of donated party funds and wazzed it away right under her nose. She used the word responsible a lot and played the victim card. Ok, fine, but she was party leader. On her watch her husband (what does a bald bloke want with two posh hair dryers btw?) stole, pinched, nabbed, embezzled SNP donations.

She might not have been responsible, but she was most certainly accountable.

I don't think anyone's said she isn't accountable. That's a fact for leaders, unfortunately. Which is daft IMO, you can't be on top of everything in a large organisation, that's why you have managers below you. But it is what it is.

I don't think the two options are blind eye or gullible and stupid either. As the leader, working all hours, she may not have even been home when this stuff was being delivered.

I'm not really that bothered TBH, I don't live in Scotland and have no skin in this game. I just thought she came across as genuine in that interview, and felt sorry for her. Other people like to stick the boot in when someone's down.

I raise my eyebrows when another Amazon delivery arrives for my wife.

I'd be asking some serious questions if I cam home to find an RV on the drive and multiple Coffee Machines scattered about.

It's like when people apologize when they've been caught, not apologizing for the offence.

I find it difficult to believe someone supposedly as astute as her, turns a blind eye to so many unusual and expensive purchases.

She resigned at the time, her marriage is no more and it has certainly tarnished her reputation, so it is difficult to know what more she can do, apart from committing hari kari.

Have you actually read anything I've said, or know anything about the story?

The RV wasn't on the drive.

I very much doubt there were "multiple Coffee Machines scattered about". He was doing this covertly.

If you were running a country I doubt you'd even be in to see your wife's Amazon deliveries, let alone raising an eyebrow at them.

Secret coffee machines? Did he hoard it all in some sort of garage-Aladdin's cave?

It doesn't matter what was happening at the house anyway, he was embezzling SNP funds. It was her duty to oversee that and clearly she was turning a blind eye, to put it as sympathetically as is possible.

TWTD CP. Evans Out.
Poll: Neil Young or Lynyrd Skynyrd - there is no middle ground.

Re the coffee machines, quite possibly! He was doing this behind her back (she claims) so if that's true then there's a fair chance he was hoarding it away somewhere.

As I've said above, yes she's ultimately responsible as the leader... but also, when you're running a country you can't oversee everything. There would've been managers looking after the finances. I don't understand why people can't, or don't want to, see this obvious stuff. Is it just the joy of kicking a major political figure when they're on the ropes? The poor woman's been deceived by her husband, had her career destroyed... and all this in the full glare of the media and public pointing and laughing. I dunno how she copes with it all TBH. Am I the only one with a bit of empathy?

It's a good question. And the answer, presumably, is not for Mr Murrell. They could have been gifts to other people, potentially Ms Sturgeon but not necessarily, and therefore possibly not delivered to their home.

He would not have been the first man in a similar position to find himself inexplicably at least superficially attractive to people other than his wife or long-term partner. Maybe he was repaying some of that attention with lavish gifts which Ms Sturgeon knew nothing of.

Some things did go to her. The news last night had the story of a piece of jewellery, doesn't mean there was a steady stream of Amazon deliveries every day to their home and a massive amount of cardboard for the recycling collection every other week.

To be fair, if they were for her he could easily have afforded them on his £150k salary.

If you take the RV out of the equation most other things could have been afforded by him but she should definitely have been asking questions of his mental state as he was clearly wasting money big time.

The BBC are following the case and have listed the stolen goods. 107 pages of it at 10 items a page.

And poor victim Nicola never noticed. Well an £81k Jag is easy to miss of course……
