I achieved something today. 19:09 - Jun 2 with 1532 viewshoppy

Something I didn't think I'd have the chance to do. Something I didn't think I'd manage to do for very long at all.
I was given an opportunity, and hesitatingly decided to do it rather than declining the offer, and I managed longer than I thought I would, and felt proud of myself for doing so.
It wasn't very impressive really, wouldn't get rave reviews or anything, and many others did much better than I did and others may have found amusement in my efforts, but that doesn't matter.
What matters is what I achieved for myself.
Celebrate your little wins as much as your big wins.

Congratulations. Those unicycles aren’t as easy as they look…..

Intriguing. So you nearly did a granny (but not in a Wayne Rooney way, as you didn’t confirm Churchman’s post). Now I’m thinking cars, driving and grannies. But the grannie could be the rec herring.

Did you get to do some sort of driving experience?

What many people don't realise is, it works in reverse too. Put it in your shoe and it makes you limp :)

Thank you... Hmm, I'm not sure it being preserved on video is necessarily a good thing, but thanks anyway.

Churchman's is actually somewhat relevant to what it was I did...

I started off the morning with the view from Churchman's, in the Bobby Robson Suite, before being amongst a group that got to play on the pitch at Portman Road.

It was an 80 minute match, (fortunately with rolling subs)... so I didn't start, but came on for about 10-15 mins at the end of the first half, and then started the second half, before going off and then back on for a bit before the end.

Think Jonathan Douglas away at Newcastle kind of vibes, but I enjoyed it, and did touch the ball a few times, although admittedly, I wasn't involved in any of the better moves as we won something like 9-6.

At 55 years of age, it wasn't something I think I'd get to do, and sadly, I think it may have come a bit too late for me to get offered a contract, but as an experience, wasn't one I could really pass up, otherwise I'd have kicked myself for not doing it.

(Edit - some of the suggestions previously were very good. Made me chuckle.)

Yes, although the stabilisers did help, of course.

Brilliant stuff. I’d take getting off the pitch in one piece as a win in your shoes. I can manage a run, but a game of footie now would probably leave me unable to walk down stairs for a week.

(I’m sure you were far more mobile that Douglas!)
