| Millwall overperformed this season 12:31 - Jun 11 with 942 views | LegendofthePhoenix | They ran us real close, on a limited budget. Alex Neil has Premier League experience, he also showed at PR that he has good nous to make in-game changes. Just a thought. | |

The biggest problem for any manager coming in is spending money on the right players to keep us up as McKenna found out last time in the Premiership.

Obviously the Norwich connection is a big consideration - any manager with that connection is gonna get huge stick as soon as things go badly wrong, and there is a not inconsiderable risk that that is how it starts. Whereas without that connection, a manager will be given more time and be able to keep fans on board if we see signs of hope. But taking that out of that equation, he ticks a lot of boxes. Just not sure you can take it out of the equation.

OK, I agree, but I'd prefer Neil to Rosenior and O'Neill. I'd definitely say Neil deserves a chance. He's done well as a young manager, taken knocks and dropped down, and then worked his way back again. I think with Rosenior and ONeill that they're just riding on early promise and there's not much there anymore. But I would say Neil is a rather underwhelming choice. First sign of trouble and the Norwich connection will surface.

That's a little harsh on LotP. I do agree about your assessment of Neil, though. He was a very good fit with Millwall but, had they got to the Premier League there was no way their style would have seen them succeed at all.

We’re trying to survive, not leak goals. Dyche - I mean, really? O’Neil - some merit, but compared to McKenna, it’s laughable. Etc etc etc [Post edited 11 Jun 17:07]
