Qatar have lost their heads and are just kicking everything that moves.
They kind of remind me of, was it Cameroon in the 70s or 80s, when they lined up for a wall for a free kick and that player kept breaking from the wall to kick the ball away before the free kick was taken. As in, I think Qatar are a little unsure of the rules of the game. Laughable how their players actually have the audacity to wave their fingers at the ref etc

Absolutely correct. I probably should've googled it before I posted. And I'm glad you corrected me as I then did Google it and it's an interesting read about their plight at that tournament. The booting of the ball away was actually to confuse Brazil and waste time as they were told not to come back to the country if they lost 4-0 so they managed to keep it to 3-0. Well done Canada anyway, and I bet Jonathan David will be donating his matchball, would be a great touch

That was Zaire.
The reason was was also more a survival thing than a misreading of the rules.
Horrible injury but that red card seemed kinda harsh. Clumsy rather than reckless or out of control.
Exactly, it wasn’t super forceful or reckless, it was a bit clumsy but I think he made contact just as the guy planted his foot.
Bad luck more than anything and the Qatari was a bit shook up about it. Obviously awful for the poor Canadian lad involved, his summer is over and hope he heels ok. Kind of got me thinking though, can you give a straight red because of the injury rather than the tackle? Seemed to be what happened.
The commotion after seemed a bit unnecessary as he didn’t mean to hurt him. That old Leeds boss doesn’t seem the kind of bloke to defuse the situation tbh!
I ended up watching the whole game. I think Canada might have won by more if it wasn't for the red cards - they looked great. Qatar turned super dirty and why were they so pissed after their guy broke the leg? I didn't understand what their problem was - they can't have thought the red was that harsh surely?
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa
