Still allowed on the sleeve.

What’s the point.

Maybe we misunderstood and they actually said "we'll make all betting sponsor sleeve"

So PL clubs can say that they are taking the problems of gambling seriously by not advertising it predominantly on the shirts. But not so seriously, so that they can still rake in sponsorship money from that sector.

I agree that it's a fairly naff compromise, but at least the sponsors won't be anywhere near as prominent on the shirts.

Maybe we'll have an official gold huckster sponsor next season too:

I'm surprised that Tismo Geneve haven't reappeared, with their unique take on 'covered market' watches.

The game is ablaze with betting ads on the digital pitch-side boards, harming fans taken in by them to fund ever more crazy wages for footballers.

I wouldn't buy a replica shirt with a gambling sponsor on the sleeve, as I wouldn't want to promote that industry.

Stake is not available in the UK so this may well be some sort of loophole that Everton are exploiting.

Absolute token gesture innit. The parasites will still be able to advertise on hoardings and incessantly during ad breaks.

As a Colchester supporter, I have to say the classiest thing about the club is its sleeve sponsor, which is a guitar shop.

I know that gambling isn’t the most savoury of industries but I’m pretty certain that the vast amount of gamblers are able to gamble responsibly.

Not looking for an argument but are they really parasites?

Indeed.

My issue, which I've shared before, isn't with gambling per se which i think is a personal choice.

The issue is the relentless barrage of gambling adverts whenever you attend or watch sport.

It means the suggestion/temptation to gamble is ever present.

Yes, I wouldn't want to ban gambling but it needs to be heavily regulated.

There's a massive difference between putting a few interest bets on in person at a sporting event and having an app, probably multiple apps, to hand on a phone.

That the bookies go to great lengths to ban anyone to successful and keep encouraging the mugs is where the parasitism comes in.

I'm not massively anti-gambling. I have the occasional, very small-stake punt.

But I find the way the whole industry is marketing itself nauseating. I hate the whole culture, the ads are almost all offensively cringe.

I'd rather go back to fags and booze being the source of most sponsorship, honestly. Let's kick betting back to the days of something you had to do in a smoke-filled shop alongside seedy old men, hoping nobody saw you going in.

As someone who is a compulsive gambler and now almost 8 years bet free I find it absolutely disgusting the way these so called firms are allowed to do what they do.
24/7 in your face, they are targeting people with adduction tendencies. I am willing to do whatever I can to help people now.

It clearly needs tough regulations but that is way OTT.
