Terrible game.

Tedious extra time and penalties written all over it.

Spain looking like Ipswich at our most toothless, just passing sideways and backwards around the edge of the box.

Not a lot to get you off your seat, is there?

You wouldn't want to watch this style of football too frequently. So much technical ability but it's all too slow in general.

I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be like our match but by heck, as good as these players are - it really has been a tough watch.

Baffling stuff from Portugal in injury time. Already beyond the 6 extra mins and playing chess on the centre circle.

Must be tricky for them always having to keep an eye on where Ronaldo is.

If I was Portuguese I'd be absolutely fuming right now. They've been poor most of the tournament and tonight they've gone out in an incredibly feeble manner. Still, at least Ronaldo got to shuffle around a bit and pose for the camera, that's what really matters.

To be fair, Portugal have done well considering they are carrying Ronaldo - effectively playing with 10 players.

the standard of football in the Saudi league must be truly poor if Ronaldo can average 40 goals a season there.

Martinez wasted Belgium's golden generation, now he has done the same to Portugal's. Waste of space manager

In fairness I thought Portugal did great! Nullified Spain largely, albeit Spain looked off the boil themselves.

Portugal had chances but it was Spain who cut them open when the Portuguese fells asleep as that free kick.

Anyway perhaps the next 4 years is a chance for Portugal to move on from too many self centered players who have a hissy fit if any of their team make a mistake!

In short Ronaldo, Fernandes and as we know well Cunha. All fantastic players but have less admirable qualities.

Side note: hope Belgium stuff the US!

That's an evolution which England had to go through with Southgate and Tuchel, moving from a "Golden Generation" (not that they were necessarily precious, but they did very much carry the mantle of "stars") to more of an integrated team.

Kane strikes me as much more of a team player, prepared to get stuck in with the dirty midfield and defensive work when required, or to leave a cross for someone who has a better chance. You don't get that impression of Ronaldo as he is now.
