Looks like we showed interest in Anan Khalaili (Has now signed for Inter Milan)
Khalaili is an attacking right sided wingback, wonder if this means we’re moving to a 3-4-3 system.

Would be happy for us to pop back in for him, might get a few million off the price now lol!

The lad is a beast, just been watching videos and he's seriously useful, would love him here.

Seems to play RW, but they have him as a RWB.

As already posted in another thread, we should 100% still go for this kid. I can’t stress enough how good he is. Him on one wing and Leif on the other would be dreamy. To put it in context, I watch USG games quite regularly and he was by far the best player on the team last season at right wing back. In the champions league he scored or got the assist for practically all the goals they scored. He’s exactly what we need and we’d be doing very well to sign a player of his calibre.

Only a small fraction of bids, interest, talks, stuff like that ever make it into the media – that should be well understood by now!

We have definitely been very interested in this player but so have numerous others.

You would think the club have to think very carefully on medical grounds if this is a risk worth taking given the large investment. How much does his condition impact any future sale. If Italy are this strict now how soon other European countries?

Priority is of course to player welfare and if he cant get a licence in Italy is he at risk on the football field anywhere that he should be advised about not playing?

I think the Italian system is ridiculously rigorous compared to other countries.
He'll be playing elsewhere by the end of next week.

Would love Town to go back in for Khalaili. Has now been confirmed that he passed all of Inter Milan’s medical checks, it was CONI who vetoed the deal.

Would be an ideal right wing back in a 3-4-3 system, offers great physical output, technical quality and seems to rack up goals / assists. His highlight reel is ridiculous for a wing back.

Probably deserves a move higher up the food chain which is why Inter Milan wanted him!

Was that before or after we signed Fatawu?

He turned us down flat.

If nothing is happening at the end of the window for him then there might be something doing, but I'd say we've moved on.

Unlikely to happen now we have Fatawu.

Strongly suspect he was first choice and we had to move quickly on Fatawu after we missed out.

We won't be dropping £20m+ on another right sided player!

Completely agree. With a back 3 that has Issa Diop at the heart of it, having Khalaili & Leif Davis as wing backs on either side, would be a serious threat even at PL level.
Another quality central midfielder would be required for the double pivot in front of the centre backs, but I could really see that formation working for us, at least some of the time this season.
He may have wanted to move to a club playing European football ahead of us, but with a move to any Serie A side off the table, maybe he might consider us now, even if he just sees it as a stepping stone in the short term. A good season for us could see his value double+ should top 6 clubs come in for him next summer.

I don't necessarily see the signing of Fatawu stopping us being interested; we still need an upgrade at right back/right wing back. Fatawu is much more an attacker, plus he is a left footed player on the right who likes to cut inside, leaving room for the overlap from a pacy wingback with a good delivery/cut back from the endline.

Same, he’s incredibly talented. I watch him regularly with USG, he was easily their top performer in the champions league last season. If he can cut it at that level he can cut it in the PL with us.

Not remotely the same player as Fatawu. We still want a RB/RWB in the Davis mould.

Not suggesting he's anything like him, just saying, why drop £20m on a right sided AM in Fatawu, when we're stocked with 10

However!

I've just looked and see that Maeda played as a LWB for Japan in a 3-4-2-1

Maybe that does suggest we're heading in a different direction, but it's a brave move.

Turned us down for Inter. As you would.

I don't think I would.

But understand that anyone other than a mad keen Town fan would.
