I have a genuine question about this, as I've this sentiment lots.
Doesn't this happen all the time? Any time I pay VAT I'm being taxed again on money I've probably paid tax on.
And even then, inheritance tax is paid by the inheritor who quite literally be receiving something for nothing. It's new money / assets to them so they would only be taxed once on it. |  |

Genuine question regarding the abolishing buy to rent.
When roughly 35% of the uk population rents, who is going to own the houses to rent out to people? I speak as someone who has rental properties in my business, we charge well below market price.
For me someone has to buy the house, for me the issue is the cost of the house, if your mortgage on a rental house is £1500 a month, the rent will likely be £1500 a month. Unless you’re rich enough to subsidies the rent or have no mortgage very few will not want to cover their bills | | | |

To me it seems fair. It's already got a fairly high bar when passing to children so most of the country don't even pay it. Like if I pass it down, I'll be dead, I'm not sure I'll care all that much.
For people who do pay it, it's from a potentially massive windfall for when you've done nothing to earn it. | |
